Can fill hole with water?

Can you fill a hole with water or you gotta dig ditch to existing water?

I've only found out that the random wells you find are actually usable. Can grab water with the watering can and dump it into the well, it'll act like your typical infinite source of water. I'm not too sure if you can fill an empty hole itself.

Dig from the "pond" all the way to the hole and water will flow through the stream and into the hole, then cover the stream back.

I'm confused, you explained how to fill empty hole itself with a watering can. If you mean how to fill it with dirt, you need dirt floor block. You can gain those only by shoveling dirt from somewhere else.

I don't know what a well is, what do you need to build one? I have only done as Sparky did, digging narrow lines of emptiness where water spreads to my farm. As a bonus i can also fish at my farm.

This is the Well that I was talking about. Doesn't seem like there's a way to craft one unless I missed a crafting table, found it in Azeos's Wilderness

There are plenty of them in Forgotten Ruin. You can find them where those area with lots of "blue" like items you can smashed and caveling to fight(?)

I've also found a well in the ancient ruins, where the cavelings spawn. Haven't been to Wilderness yet. I'm currently trying to find the Hivemother.
