Does lighting affect monster spawning?
If I put a lot of torches around an area where monsters spawn, will it prevent or slow down their spawning?

If you don't want monsters to spawn you can dig up the tiles that spawn them with a spade, Slimes spawn on orange tiles etc - you can do the same with bugs and their spawn tiles.

You can then put these tiles down elsewhere if you want, say in a locked room full of spike traps to farm slime for potions.

You misunderstand I want monsters to spawn. I made a large room with nothing but slime floor and another large room with the living room floor and chrysalis however with the exception of 1 to 2 normal slimes, nothing is spawning.

The only difference between here and there seems to be the torches I put down for lighting.
