Suggestions after playing for 8 hours
These are the things I feel the game really needs:

1. A way to mass-plant and mass-water, to reduce tediousness of the action. Say, hold SHIFT and it waters or seeds all areas around you and on your square for a 3x3 area done. Starts in the NE corner, goes clockwise, and ends in your square, in situations where you don't have enough water or seeds.

Additionally a way to mass harvest with the Hoe, by holding Shift and attacking.

=====

2. Fishing lures, to make early game fishing less tedious. Or eliminate the mini game entirely, and use an auto-fishing system like Dysmantle does, and so you can do something else, while the game auto-fishes for you.

=====

3. Much faster XP gains for melee, ranged, and vitality skills. I've killed nearly a thousand slimes, hundreds of maggots and at least a hundred cavelings, and yet my melee is only 19 and ranged is only 22. My mining skill and running skill are both around 46 at the moment.

=====

4. We need more talent points. Say 1 talent point every 2.5 levels; thus you earn 1 at level 3rd and 1 at level 5th. Would allow us to diversify much more and fill out the individual talents faster.

=====

5. Really would like some kind of plant that produces slime. We got one that produces fiber, so...

=====

6. Some additional iron-tier tools for iron anvil (it does have 3 available slots):
-> Crossbow = Damage range and reload speed between a sling (tin tier) and a musket.
-> Spiked Shield = Deals thorns damage to enemies when you block and holds up better than the standard shield.
-> Advanced Lantern = 6 glow radius, worn in offhand as usual.

=====

7. Sentry Trap = Using the new electricity system, connect power to a sentry trap that automatically fires crossbow bolts at nearby enemies.

=====

8. Thumper = Using the new electricity system, connect power to a thumper that will attract maggots from a great distance away to investigate it. Combine with other devices to turn it into a maggot farmer. Also helps to entice the larger maggots to stop destroying all my torches.

=====

9. A way to convert Copper to Tin. Maybe through Alchemy? I'm always running out of tin, and its needed for making railways, so I'm unable to keep building my railways.

=====

10. Mining picks swing over torches, rather than hit them (like Swords do). Quite annoying to accidentally smack my torches down while mining.

=====

11. Crafting higher tier items, especially ones with more rarer resources, grants you more XP. Similarly, cooking higher quality foods or with higher quality ingredients, grants you more XP.

Currently its better to craft a bazillion wooden shovels to raise crafting skill.

=====

12. Repairing or Salvaging items, grants crafting XP.

=====

13. Smelting ores and grabbing them, grants cooking XP.

=====

14. Killing an enemy without taking any damage grants a kill multiplier. The more enemies you kill without getting hit, grants more multiplier, with a separate multiplier for melee and for ranged. When you kill something immediately get some extra xp to melee or ranged and a bit to vitality. Those who are careful should be rewarded for it. Caps at 25x multiplier, so its not a massive loss when you get hit.

=====

15. Wielding the Slime Sword makes you immune to the slowing effect of slime. Yes I know there are a hard to acquire necklace and ring that provides that same effect, but it can be hard to find them, and you'd only be immune while the sword was actively equipped.

=====

16. Hold shift while mining or digging, to hit three squares immediately in front of you, to quickly dig trenches or tunnels.

=====

17. A way to convert walls to floors. ie Dirt Wall to Dirt Floor. Or just get rid of floor separate objects and just allow us to insert dirt walls into holes. It wouldn't help with deep chasms though.

=====

18. Eliminate the need to water the root plant once it reaches full maturity.

=====

19. Fix the bug where watered plants before saving, are now dry when you reload.

=====

20. Make it so that you can't accidentally tear up wooden floors unless using an appropriate tool. I put wooden floors all around my garden so that it doesn't get choked out by root plants and roots (as roots can't grow on wooden floors), but I constantly rip it up when I go to harvest my plants.

=====

21. Allow us to convert harvested plants that we have found into seeds. Would make it easier to get Carrock farms up and operational faster, as I rarely find Carrocks and thus the seeds naturally. And, it would mean that if we find a golden berry, we can convert it into a golden berry seed.

=====

22. With alchemy allow us to take a gold bar and a 6 of the same seed, and turn them into 3 golden seeds of the same variety. Gold is quite precious, but this gives another way of getting these seeds.

=====

23. Mushroom farms. They make good food and healing, and I'm constantly running out of them and they don't regrow naturally. At least not anymore (I seem to recall them doing so in dark places in the playtest).

=====

24. Spiders. I'm surprised, a deep dank cave, with lots of maggots around wouldn't attract a few spiders. Or maybe I've not encountered any yet...

=====

25. If you don't fish in a pond for a while, it eventually spawns a fishing spot. Especially useful for self-created ponds that I want to fish in.

======

If I think of anything else, I'll add them here.

1 would like that but only in higher tiers which we do have higher tier hoes and water can so would be appropriate though i think it would really look like they stole the idea from stardew valley.

2 odd suggestion and i honestly doubt there going too remove the mini-game they worked on i think a better suggestion and more likely to be accepeted would be saying how to improve the system instead of just ripping the system out entirely and giving a option early game to circumvent it at that point it might as well just not be in the game.

3 im pretty sure xp gain was increase in ea vs the demo as vitality levelled up way quicker for me than in the demo but generally the system is trying to go for a passive skill gain and it's great for player who play the game for longer than 20 hours as we still have ♥♥♥♥ to do like level up since it takes so long.

4 no i don't think so you get enough points to go down 1 path fully if you want to diversify you can just choose a different path.

5 just make a slime farm via placing a crap ton of slime tiles trust me you will produce way more slime than you need so no need for a slime plant.

6 there already a glow radious 5 for scarlet ore (the best one) so that wouldn't work for the lantern i like the rest of that though just don't make the musket the same one you buy from the trader and find around the world make it less powerfull than that musket.

7 i like this suggestion good for making automated farms as well.

8 uhhh that seem kinda wierd if you needed to farm maggots/larva you can just dig up and place those wierd tiles in the hive and the tiles that allow the eggs to grow then they will spawn and easy farm and you should probably just block off any area "Hive" floor tiles or dig them up when you have torches in the area.

9 not really needed and also you'd just run out of copper later in the game you will get access to mining the big ore nodes around the map which can you make infinity tin albeit at a slow pace but making enough of them will get you a crap ton of tin espically over time.

13 that doesn't make much sense and would probably over level cooking too much unless it gave very little xp i think it would better if it gave mining xp instead.

14 ok i mean it's kinda wierd but im not against it.

15 how about a little change to this you get a couple of seconds of immunity to slime when you hit a enemy that way the rare and hard to get gear is still worth it and very rewarding

16 that would probably upset the balance of the game so i don't think it should be added if it is added it should take 4x the durability so there a con and a positive.

18 i don't think you need to water the root plant when it mature i haven't done that for sure unless it changed in the full release and my demo plant is bugged or maby your talking about something else that isn't the wood generation plant aka root seed/plant.

21 feel that would upset a lot of balance that went into how you get seed the rarity and generally makes the seed chance absolutely obsolete.

22 gold isn't rare when you get to late-game/kinda end and that would upset the rarity of those by a crap ton and make them really less special.

10,11,12,17,19,20,23,24,25 agreed.

btw i am a solo player.

Stopped reading when I realized you only wanted things to make the game faster and easier. No thanks.
ho84 Mar 9, 2022 @ 5:28pm
I think this game is designed for multiple players, so if solo, the progress is pretty slow. But i am ok with this
Nate Mar 9, 2022 @ 6:10pm
I’m ok with most of this I suppose, but 24 is a hard no, don’t need no spiders
SparkyLab Mar 9, 2022 @ 6:33pm
I am ok with slow game. @Jarl B Ballin, I stopped reading at auto fishing. After finding some tin ore, I am able to make the rod so I am enjoying the fishing.

I've played crashlands, feel the snow, keplerth... this is nothing, lol!

Awesome. I liked Feel the Snow too. Didnt know about Keplerth so thank you for that. Sadly most of the suggestions I have read are all about making the game faster and easier. I fear the only feedback will be along those lines. So I am hoping that the devs stick true to their vision and not worry to much about people wanting the game to be a quick and easy.

Hey, its great that you guys have friends to play with and so you don't have to deal with the BS solo grind, but us solo players would like some conveniences. Mmkay?

If you don't like my list of suggestions, go make your own.
Palandus Mar 9, 2022 @ 8:14pm
A simpler solution for most of them above could be addressed by allowing us to set a variety of multipliers at world creation. Something akin to what Conan Exiles or Ark Survival does.

Let us decide if we want vanilla values, or maybe faster values or even slower values. That way you could cater to multiple player types.

Things like:

XP Rates
Base Drop Rates
Ore / Food per Vein
Monster Respawn Rate
Monster HP / Damage
Boss HP / Damage

That way if someone wanted some things easier and some things harder they could do that. Or everything easier. Or everything harder.

Solo player here ...

My best suggestion for all your "automated idle afk ideas" is to wait till they open the workshop(pretty sure it will happen at some point , the potential is too vast not to)

Has to why not ... well makes it a mess to balance out and because workshop basically does all you asked and leave more time for devs to focus on the game itself.

Hope i explained it correctly , the way i write in english is something confusing .

More things that I've noticed:

26. Why do I need a Tin workbench to make wooden fences? Wouldn't that make more sense at a base tier construction?

=====

27. On the topic of wooden fences, how about a wooden fence gate?

=====

28. The Hand Mortar weapon, is pretty useless. It lacks the mining damage to destroy a stone wall (an iron pick will mine it faster than you can shoot at the wall), it has less overall ranged damage than a musket (takes 3-4 hits to kill a caveling miner, whereas a musket usually takes 2, maybe 3 if your skill is low), and you can seriously wound yourself with it / outright kill yourself, by shooting it too close range.

It needs some serious buffs.

=====

29. I personally don't see the point of a shovel greater in cost than the wooden one. A copper/tin/iron, also mines holes, just faster, whereas a wooden shovel is cheap, can be made anywhere, and wood is plentiful so you can chuck it after using it.

I think higher tier shovels should be able to mine larger holes (wider or taller or both) with higher tiers. Otherwise, why would I waste precious ores on them, when they are better spent on so many other things.

Same issue with higher tier hoes, over the bronze one.

=====

30. It would be nice if those well-objects you find in the caveling biome, could actually fill with water, so that you could place them in your base and draw water from them.

EDIT: Turns out you can.

=====

31. Why is there a Tin dagger, but not a dagger of other varieties?

=====

32. Allow us to use the salvage bench to convert old building materials into a portion of the materials used to make them. ie Salvage a wooden wall to get some wood. Say at a 50% rate?

=====

33. Why can I find Copper Cross Necklace as random loot, and can craft it at the jewelry bench, but I can't craft Mining Rings at the jewelry bench?

Is an EARLY ACCESS game that has content still being developed:

I nEeD tO rEaCh En dGaMe Fa St Er.

Solo player here, its just fine. In fact id rather get my money worth instead of needing everything to be done in an hour or so.

I mean auto fishing? seriously...? The farming ?? Dude its 1000% faster then how stardews farming is. Youre talking about being able to bore three block wide tunnels too already man getout
Palandus Mar 10, 2022 @ 10:20pm
Okay then answer me this:

Why is auto-fishing as a convenience bad, but ... auto-cooking, auto-smelting, no-craft times, and easy farming where you don't have to water at each stage of growth considered to be good conveniences?

If we are talking about not wanting the experience to be made faster, why are certain conveniences acceptable but others not? So would you want to have to manually stand there at a cooking station and cook each meal manually, like you do in Skyrim, or World of Warcraft?

for watering plants: i'd like to see a feature similar to minecraft where farmland gets hydrated if there is water nearby
