move away when it jumps if your not doing that cause surprisingly moving away makes you not get hit also eat a speed increase food like a heart berry+bomb pepper which gives extra speed so you can move faster.

or you could just try and get iron gear before fighting the slime boss it will make it ways easier if your all decked out.

and if you want to cheese the boss just get a long ranged weapon like the slingshot which you can find in certain randomly generated structures and then shoot him while being a safe distance.

Hit two times, then run. Repeat until enraged. Then hit once and run.

Buff yourself up with food. Movement speed is extremely good. Combine peppers with berries in the cooking pot for speed+regen+max life. If you already have them also cook something with stone carrots. Those give you good armor. Wearing at least the full bronze armor set makes you more tanky too.

Use cooked food that uses Bomb Peppers and Heart Berrys for a movement and max health increase. Lure him away from his blue summoning circle before attempting to fight. Use the bombs that you get from the wooden boxes and place them down next to you and when he attempts to stomp on you move out the way so he lands on the bombs.

Once he hits half heath he will try to get back to his summoning circle to heal, attack him before he makes it to his circle to finish him off.

P.S. Decent armor helps too.

Find or craft 2 Slingshots. He stops hunting you after a short distance. Dont stop firing as he heals pretty quickly
Spike traps get in at least one hit and you can place them down again, too. Luring the boss out of the slime-covered zone helps a lot with dodging.

I fought him with tin armor and a slingshot and he went down pretty fast. It also helps to clear the area around him of slimes before attacking him.

I also found a feather trinket at some point in a box while exploring. It lets you dash with the space button...very helpful in getting out of the way of his slam attack.

I beat him with copper armor and a copper sword... it took a few attempts but my tactic was this:

First - clear a large area of the ground slime near him. You can get pretty close without causing him to agro on you, so its pretty easy to clear a big enough area. Once that's done, you want to pull him to that area. Each time he pounds the ground he'll put slime down again, so unfortunately if you die this will need to be done again. You can probably do it without clearing it, but everytime I died its because the slime slowed me down between my dashes.

Which brings me to the next point - get a feather so you can dash by pressing space. Use a food item to get a glow instead of using the lantern cause the dash is really good here.

Then just be careful - make sure you are moving before he pounds and dash at the appropriate time. You can usually get 4 hits on him with the sword before each dash, but 2 or 3 is safer. Try to move in a square so that you are always changing direction - not because it helps but because if you pull him too far from his area he'll go back and heal and you'll ahve to start over again.

Also try to move around the ground slime he puts down as much as possible. Your dash *will* save you from it most of the time but as mentioned - it is the thing that got me killed.

In the demo I killed him with a slingshot and it was MUCH easier than using a sword haha. So that's also an option - but its definitely possible with all copper gear.

Edit: Forgot to mention - make sure you buff up with as many good buffs as you can prior to the fight. Glow, movement speed, dodge, and health regen are good for instance. I had a stack of food that gives health regen next to my sword on the hotbar so it was REALLY easy to switch between sword and food with the scrollwheel or pressing 1 - 2 and then right clicking and switching back. Eating is basically instant so you can easily bump your regen back up mid fight.

Wish his health wouldn't recharge so fast but then again it'd prob be easy to cheese him that way

he doesn't have that much health if you use tin weapon or similar.
But movement is a bit of a pain, clear the ground around him and shovel slime, or drag him a little outside of the slime area. At his rage moment, its easy back and forth, tap run, tap run and dead.

Some kind of armor is fine, but doesn't do much compared to the damage given.

Do wish the movement allowed for a longer battle tho.

range might be easier at one of the 2 stages.
