What's the point of higher tier shovels (and hoes)?
With all other items, higher material tier gives a tool/armor/weapon better at its job. A sword does more damage, a pickaxe mines blocks faster, etc.

But an iron shovel, for instance, requires the same number of hits to break a ground tile as a wood shovel.

The hoe doesn't bother me as much, as the speed is never much of a pain point, but 3 hits to break dirt ground adds up really fast when you need lots, and you have no way to speed it up.

Personally, I'd like to see higher tier shovels either hit the ground harder (fewer hits to break) or faster (less time to break).

It'd be nice to see higher tier hoes swing faster, to help bring back the initial rhythm of holding use item and a direction to till a line, instead of the stop-go you have to do later in the game because of move speed buffs from Running levels.

Yes, They have higher durability, but the durability of an iron shovel will never match a stack of wood made into wood shovels and tossed in the trash once they're broken, AND it saves inventory slots if you don't otherwise need scrap and a repair bench.
