Hello! I know this comment is coming a long time after your post. I'm about halfway through the game, just unlocked the growlia and limitia catalysts. I did a lot of grinding seeds for good traits, just got to Vorpal Strike and a bunch of other 5+ star quality traits (although the quality of my seeds is still low). When I played Sophie 1 I made super overpowered gear and cheesed the game on normal difficulty and I'd love to do the same for Sophie 2. Do you know what the best traits are to put on weapons/armor/accessories/items so that I can coast on normal difficulty?

Thank you!

This is even later, and I may not be the OP, but the traits that have allowed me to totally coast through normal difficulty are these 3:

All Stats Supercharge (+20 to all stats)
Dragon God's Wrath (+30 to all stats, +25% chance of higher dmg when attacking)
All-Stat Power (+40 to all stats)

Together, they add up to +90 in every stat. Feels amazing when you've plopped those 3 on all four pieces of equip, but for weapons, you may want to drop All Stats Supercharge in favor of either Persistent Attack (+40% dmg when Attacking, +20% Skill Power) or Super Skill (Skill Power +35%, MP cost -35%).

Prior to the first Zmei fight, All Stats Charge (+10 to all stats), All Stats Boost (+15 to all stats), and All Stats Supercharge may be the best you can do, and while that's not to say +45 to everything is a slouch. It's just that Dragon God's Wrath is a combo of Dragon God's Blessing (off Dragon Cores and Dragon Eyes) and All Stats Supercharge, and either Zmei or Dragonaire (area boss from the same area) are likely your first sources of those items. Looks like you could also get those (and other) dragon materials from Poison Seeds, If you're lucky.

Also around then is likely when you, if you're keeping up with the town requests, will be able to do the rank A request, "Needed: Assistant Alchemist 5" from "Sario", which rewards you with 2 Rainbow Neutralizers with Awakening on them. Obtaining a Rainbow Neutralizer is part of unlocking Velvetis, and Awakening combos with a lot of top tier traits to make even better versions. These Neutralizers may well be your first easy source of Awakening, since the Rainbow Neutralizers, even if you didn't make them yourself, can be Duplicated at Pirka.

Awakening combines with All Stats Supercharge to make All-Stat Power, but also with Skillful Attack to become Persistent Attack, and with Expert Skill to make Super Skill.
Hi and thanks for the help! I'm trying to unlock each recipe as I play through the game and am about to craft the next Weather Change item after the Zwei fight. I'm looking for Topacio Gemstones! Is it possible to get them where i'm at in the game or is that at a later part of the game?
CluelessWonder8 Mar 19, 2023 @ 10:14am
Let's see, the first Zmei fight is in Ancient City Royum, and to get there you needed to have the Bomb Hammer, and go through Quartz Lapis, correct?

Deep in Quartz Lapis, is the Quartz Abime area, in which, during Sun, the Major Gathering point(s) for the Bomb Hammer should have Topacio Gemstones as the first choice.

I remember having to hunt around quite a bit for Topacio Gemstones, too.

Just so you know, I unistalled Sophie 2 after getting 100%, so unfortunately, I can't just load it up and confirm.

I'm going off my recollections, and comparing with a wiki I found for Sophie 2 (I think the link I followed came from the steam guide section, but here's one for you https://barrelwisdom.com/sophie2/items/topacio-gemstone/en ). Regrettably, the above wiki is not entirely accurate, for example, it lists major gathering points in the Childhood Dreamland (Atelier Plachta DLC), and I was in there a lot, and never saw any.

Thank you so much! That area completely left my radar for some reason, got the Topacio Gemstones now! And yeah Barrel Wisdom is incredibly helpful but sometimes their listings make me confused @_@ thanks again for the help!

hello I havent played a game from this series before and it looks very interesting. Is this a good starting point? also i mostly play fps games so the only game I played thats similar to this is genshin impact. got bored of that so I was wondering is this game fun and worth it?
CluelessWonder8 Mar 21, 2023 @ 9:27am
Personally, I thought the game was worth it and quite a lot of fun. Although there was certainly the good feeling of achievement from completing the game (I got 100% of the achieves), it was also quite sad, as now the game had ended.

However, I don't play any fps whatsoever, and so I suspect the combat system may be hard for you to like.

As for starting points for the series, previously, I would have recommended Sophie 1, but that game, even with the deluxe (DX) version, is quite old now, and it shows. At this point, I would recommend, for you, either this game, Sophie 2, or Ryza 1. They are the most recently released games with the most modern improvements.

This game got shoved in between Sophie 1 and its original sequel, Firis, in terms of timeline. There is a "Story So Far" in the main menu for people who start with this game, or need a refresher.

The crafting systems, methods of learning new recipes, and combat systems are quite different between Sophie and Ryza.

For Sophie, the crafting is pretty in-depth, between having to fit ingredients like puzzle pieces, and combining/morphing traits of ingredients into better versions that can be carried onto later materials. New recipes are learned by "being inspired" from actions in the field and items known. The combat is turn-based, and you control the whole party.

Ryza's crafting got simplified a lot, mostly going with item stats and stacking levels of traits. New recipes mostly come from putting in the correct ingredient at the correct step of a related "precursor" recipe. The combat is real-time, so you can only control one character of your party at a time, though you can switch who you control fairly freely.

On the one hand, I'd like to see more people play Atelier, but on the other hand, you sound like you're from the opposite end of the gaming spectrum from me, so I'm not sure if the games are really something for you. It's too bad there's no demo you could try first.

Since this game is something of a gamble for you, given your usual games, I'd definitely recommend waiting for a sale.

need the new pickaxe for a materiel but dont know how to get it
CluelessWonder8 Mar 21, 2023 @ 7:50pm
I assume the hold up is either Undastone or Alchemic Clay? (You need Alchemic Clay to make Undastone.)

Undastone (and Sperrholz Plywood) are recipes from the book, "A Puni Guide to DIY", which you can eventually purchase from Pirka. "Eventually" meaning right around the point in the story where Alchemic Clay (story unlock) becomes possible. When exactly that is, I don't remember, though I do recall being pretty impatient by that point.

For the record, you *also* need catalysts to get the 2nd tier tools' effects high enough to gather 3* materials. I remember crafting the better bug net (before getting catalysts), and being pretty annoyed to learn I was still limited to 2* items.

Edit: If you just can't see the recipe at all, it's just a lock somewhere, keep progressing the story, until the Bomb Hammer comes up. You'll see it after getting the Bomb Hammer recipe, it's right above that.
