Mt Tribe Was Deleted

This is the second time I have had one of my tribes deleted which is very frustrating after spending so much time to build them up. Has anyone else had this problem? It has happened to me with Sims 3 before on Steam as well.

My game was paused so there is no way my village had all died

If you've been repeatedly losing save data for multiple games, then something is probably wrong with your system. Perhaps the storage medium you're using is starting to fail?

I am using a brand new gaming PC and the last time with Sims is was an entirely different computer. Virtual Villagers has deleted 3 game files since 2017 and i was hoping the new PC would help.

I should also add that other villages are still there with no issue

All you can do is make frequent backups of your save data. I could look up its location if you can't find it yourself.

I appreciate the help. I just made a new tribe, went back to the game, and it is already gone. i think I am just going to stop playing at this point

If you lose your save data this quickly, then something is clearly wrong. Perhaps the game is trying to save the data at a location for which it doesn't have write permission? Does the game always lose its save data after you close it?

It does not. It honestly deleted one right after I just tried to switch between villages and the other village is just fine every time. I have looked for other save locations and no dice

Okay, this is starting to get confusing. It's been a while since I played this game, so I might be misremembering some things. But do I understand correctly that you're using multiple in-game profiles in this game? And your last data loss occurred immediately after you switched to a different profile?

There are multiple saved villages and only one is saving. I will make a new one and it's gone in five seconds. No idea what is happening

Hello, did you find a solution for this problem? I have the same issue. I downloaded the game and it won't save. I tried to uninstall/install multiple times and I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I did not. So I haven't played this game or Sims (I had the same issue) since. I'm sorry you're having the same issue. I have tried accessing the game different ways too (straight from Steam, from the file, using a shortcut) and none of those help either.

3 words: revise antivirus settings

more detail: goto your antivirus and add exceptions for VV1-3 and make sure its not flagging any files from the game, if its OG windows defender, its much easier to configure it the way you want.

Has anyone figured out what was causing this issue? I just had a six month save file (I only had one tribe) delete itself and none of my backups for that file is showing up when tried to look for those. I had almost beat the game too, I was two puzzles off from finishing. TT^TT

I never really got an answer. At first I thought it was maybe from organizing my folders but when I stopped that it didn’t work either
