Grand Master's Core Rewards?
Theres an event where the Grand Master lets you choose a reward of Knights, gear, grimoires, servitors and then it says "Core Rewards: (Until Next Report)" What does this actually do? Anyone know? There were missions spawned already and it didnt seem to change anything?

It's for missions spawned AFTER the event, not ones already available. What it does is change the reward for every mission to your choice: Requisition, Grimoire, or Servitors. So for 60 days, you can only get that one resource as the reward for missions. It says core rewards since you still get the normal rewards for every mission I assume (i.e. requisition from glory deed). I chose requisition so was not able to get any new servitors (except via the auto produced from the buildings) or grimoires until next report.

Ok tried it out, seems youre right:
gear > +1 Requisition, but youre already getting some every mission anyway
Knight > lvl 1 knights, seems weak
grimoires > +1 grimoire, seems best since they seem rare? 10+ hours in i only have 3
servitors > +10, nice but youre limited by build time anyway

EDIT: Hmm maybe servitors were the way to go after all

I would have picked servitors or the requisition point. Grimoires aren't rare at all. You just need to pick the Bloom occurrence missions which grant them!

Moreover, unlike requisition points or servitors, grimoires aren't a consumable item (although there are some random events which can decrease your supply). Servitors, not the build time, are what limit ship projects for me, at least. Everything Lunete does requires servitors, even repairs for components damaged by random events.

Finally, a level 1 Knight is actually not 'weak' at all, especially if he is of a class that you want/don't have enough of. The higher level knights you can get as mission rewards (if you put requisition points into 'knights' after the Grandmaster quarterly report) will come with their skill points already assigned at random, which could result in some great recruits, or some total duds... how do you like your level 4 Interceptors with the Psilencer tree completely filled in, but no points in teleporter skills? :D

So, what actually happens if you choose knights? The other three choices are the normal mission rewards.

If you choose knights then each mission will give you a level 1 knight from one of the core classes, so no servitors or grimoires while this thing is active. You can get 2 knights each mission, though I'm not a big fan of level 1 knights so I tended to dismiss them for requisition.
Personally I think servitors is the best option to choose, much better to get the ship upgraded

Yeah I literally have always selected servitors. I enjoy the level 1 Knights from the Armory rewards because they are only 1 req and you can get 1 req if you don't like their build or talent. I almost always take the Knight reward just looking for optimal Talent to Class matches. Like Great Destiny on anything but a Purgator, etc.

Knights is actually a fine choice, since you can dismiss them and recoup req.

This lets you cycle farm for interceptors with +melee crit, Justicars with great destiny, purgators with +ranged crit, and apothecaries with +skulls or +focus.

Class-gear-trait synergies trivialize the game.

They're not required, though. Servitors as a reward is the fastest path to max ship speed, which means more missions (thus more knights)

Sure but you already get a Knight every mission if you have just unlocked it for 2 req at any point which should happen the first GM report. I was just confused because of the 4 choices the Knights were a new core reward and I was not sure what that actually did. I will continue to select servitors when given the chance.

Paying 2 req for a knight you return and get 1 req is far worse than paying 1 req for a knight you can return for 1 req
