World reached 5 lvl corruption. What happens?
Hi everyone, unfortunately I had a planet reaching 5 lvl corruption and I don't know what are the implications.

What is going to happen? There is a way to reduce the corruption without sending a prognosticar? The only option is to exterminate the planet?

Thank you all!

You get issued a special mission. If you succeed the corruption lvl decrease if you don't the planet is lost and the meter "morbus" get +1. At +5 you lose the campaign.

Special Mission, as Kairis says, or alternatively if you've built it, you can deploy Exterminatus.

Morbus Gate time. Slagging a planet with Exterminatus after you have failed/missed/ignored a Morbus Gate mission will not remove the increment from the doom timer. Thus, try not to let multiple planets sit at 5 corruption, because you can get multiple Morbus Gate missions spawning on opposite sides of the galaxy map, with no way to reach them in time.

Morbus Gate missions are also very tedious--you'll face incoming enemy reinforcements every turn after the first two, along with constant warp surge events. And you need to babysit the Inqusitor princess for several turns (similar to the 2nd half of the Craftworld mission, except that this time, the chamber is already filled with bloomspawn, and the enemies will actively target her).

Bring an Apothecary along on that mission, and/or medical servo-skulls.

It feels like a good chunk of this game is premised around the idea that the player will have performance problems. Augmentations are for only critically wounded knights, then there's the preserving your dead knights to commune with, and now Mobus Gates that only appear on level 5 corruption planets?

I just eliminated my second reaper and I haven't had any planet even threaten to reach level 5 yet. Kind of wondering what else I may be missing out on.

Yes, this game have actual comeback mechanics (which is still not enough for some players) and it's very forgiving what it comes to game over. You can even use exterminatus on the system with already ticking gate mission and delay it even more.
