Squad Sizes increase.
can we please Expand Squad Sizes to 5 as that is the Codex Minimum in the Grey Knights, and for all space-marines (expect for eliminators and eradicators) and most Imperial Forces. also allows us to bring in some options combinations. it just bugs me that most Turn-base games that follow the X-com model limit it to 4 not 5 in the 40k experience it should be five as that is the typical recommend codex squad size.

It irks me too, but I think the justification is that it gives them the 5th slot as a space for specialists (Inquisitor/Lunette/Dreadnought). Also thematically, you're leading the battered remnants of a strike force, so all that is left are survivors from different squads.

On the plus side, at least with the new Assassins, they learned from the backlash to the Dreadnought that people don't want restrictions on how to play. So the Assassins are freely useable at least.

6 at least, as xcom or other types

At first I was really surprised that it was only 4 characters. I was shocked there was no way to expand. But in the vanilla game you get used to it especially when you can chain a lot of executes and teleports.

But with the new DLCs, new mission types, new enemies, and all the new classes they really need more missions with 4 marines and dreadnought then on missions where the dreadnought is too big and no special guests, it should be 5 squad members after craft world.

Some of the mission types can be pretty grindy and turn into a bit of a slog so 5 characters would help speed those up as well.

So the new dlc doesn't increase squad size? 4 feels so limited and with the imperial assassins dlc even more so.

Still 4.

Personally, I see no reason to buy it full price. Boarding action sounds interesting, but rest of the game is just too boring. Prestige classes are too deep in mid game (why? Why xcom2 give us new classes from the get go and CG allow us to have one in a mid game while you might never get any more).
4 chars limit makes squad composition boring while leaving entire barracks upgrade useless.
It is completely mindless at standard and its brutal early game at highest level for boring late game where you just one turn entire map with Librarian and interceptors.

If they were 5, the level of difficulty would be extremely easy. 4 okay, don't be crybaby

Should have an upgrade for fielding 2 squads with all the classes we have now.

More mod support. Let us run 10 guard.

As a middle ground, I would like if they made the 5th slot the 'specialist' slot. So the other 4 squad slots are anything, but that 5th slot is specifically for Chaplain/Purifier/Librarian/Paladin/Assassin. On the story missions where you accompany Lunette or Vakir, they do not take up a slot (they're mostly useless in ground missions anyway so it's hardly a buff to the player).

If we go by tabletop standards, then the specialists would be outside the squad structure. However, squads would also be only of one type of "class" by that regard. Still, a fifth permanent slot and some rebalancing to account for it, would make the game a bit more flexible.

The enemies could be rebalanced to account for a fifth slot.

Squad size should be a grindable mechanic of the game with difficulty reflected in missions based on chosen game difficulty. Xcom 2 etc., etc....

When's the Workshop gonna land?

Nevermind. Oh well, at least I didn't go crazy with discount at Fanatical and buy all the DLC too.

"Gears Tactics", arguably an XCOM clone-of-sorts has five slots (one taken up by the support drone/robot "Jack") so it can be done.

Im not having a problem making it work, i've got 95 hrs on gears and 450 on xcom. Both great games but this one is neither of them.

This is just another way of making your squad work , special missions lets you bring special heroes and that diversifies the gameplay well. They are balancing the game after that, and the core of Chaos Gates is still this elite strike force element.

We really need a 5 man team, especially with new units being added.

Increase the enemies, I really don't care how they balance it - it's much less fun in general with a smaller team.
