There is only war, but which one? Chaos Gate, Battlesector, Gladius
hi everyone, good day. As titled - i have that Warhammer itch that i can't quite scratch, so looking for a bit of insights and suggestions from those who have played one or more of these 3 games.

I'm leaning towards Chaos Gate (hence posting here) as I like the xcom/rpg hybrid formula. but i also fancy the warfighting aspect of Battlesector and Gladius' 4x take, both offering multiple factions (Necron fan here).

Which do you think is the best deal? in terms of gameplay, content and technical qualities? I've done some research and am aware of some issues (e.g. Chaos Gate is/was? quite buggy, Gladius dimes you pretty hard on DLCs, Battlesector gets repetitive fast, etc). Happy to hear your thoughts, what you like and dislike about these games. thanks.

I would also say Chaos Gate recent update needs a fix, so wait, but that is only a few days away.

Battlesector is the one i cant recommend
imho demonhunters is the best (of the worst) i still have the feeling the devs are not testing their stuff properly

i own the basegame (with the crowe DLC) but stumbled in some gamebreakers
so i wait for fixes

still dont get why they sell dlc's that are not completely tested
i thought they should pay testers and not make customer pay to get acces to a second beta test

Personally loved Battlesector, it's great and hopefully will be receiving more content soon. Definitely recommend it over Chaosgate in its current state. Gladius I haven't gotten around to yet, but from what I have read you need the DLC's to actually enjoy it properly.

I'm gonna disagree and say I loved Battlesector. I finished the Blood Angels campaign twice just to try different units and tactics. It's just well written and fun, and never wears out its welcome with endless repetitive missions like... some other games. I know there's also a planetary conquest mode but I haven't tried it yet.

Gladius is a Civ-lite set in the 40K world, it's fun but I frankly got bored after 2-3 games because there just doesn't seem to be a lot of content. Still worth picking up at a discount.

You might also give Mechanicus a try, it's another turn-based XCOM-like but different enough to be fun. It also features my favorite 40K faction :)

Chaos Gate, well... you can read this forum to form your own opinion.

Chaos Gate = XCOM, Gears Tactics, etc.
Battlesector = classic wargame like... there is many similar games, but i can remember only Sanctus Reach.
Gladius = Warlock - Master of the Arcane.

hi thanks - what's the issue, roughly?

Mechanicus and Gladius are the best.

Dreadnought isn't working in some cases, mostly freezes. The main thing is that you don't get to use it immediately or for every mission, so people don't like that.

The techmarine is weak even with paired with dreadnought. Servitors like to walk in fire.

Daemonhunter is better
Gladius is ok but quickly repetitive
Battlesector is disappointing, lacks content, campaign isn't fun, combat is barely ok

Sorry Guys. Battlesector has Blood Angels, Necrons, Tyrannids, and on 12/13 the Sisters of battle (Gladius gets them the same day). It has skirmish mode, campaign, and a beta version of planetary conquest. Lacks content? I think not. Chaos gate is unbalanced and incomplete in my humble opinion. I uninstalled it. Would have liked to play the dreadnought but it's buggy and only available on certain missions. I love Gladius of couse. Mechanicus was awesome as well.

Are we talking about quality, preference or what?

Isn't Gladius = 40k + Civilization?

Chaosgate is an XCOM clone, but a good one.

Mechanicus is a unique ruleset, and should absolutely be a part of your consideration.

Battlesector is an empty game.

thanks everyone for your input. i already have Mechanicus and Inquisitor Martyr (and all the DoWs of course). a another question if i may:

if i want to buy the fullest experience of these 3 games at the moment, i need:
Battlesector Deluxe Edition
Chaos Gate Grand Master Edition
Gladius Complete Edition (fffffff....)

correct?
Demiurge Dec 11, 2022 @ 6:12pm
I've been waiting for a sale to pick up battle sector, and also all the gladius dlc. Guess I'll have to wait for the next skull throne event

what's the difference between battlesector and sanctus reach?
