Obtaining advanced classes
Do I understand correctly that I'll never get Librarians, Paladins etc. directly through the barracks, where I could get them unspecced, so I could spend their ability points to my liking?

So I should upgrade the Armory with requsition? Does the amount of upgrading affect just the chance for higher classes, or will it also force on me higher levels with more points already spent?

Unfortunately, it will increase the chance to get high level characters with points already spent. It doesn't increase the chance to get special classes. Throughout my campaign I got 1 paladin, 2 chaplains and 2 purifiers, and zero librarians (except the one you get automatically, good thing I knew what to ask for).

Yeah this is a bit annoying.

At some point I got the event in which I could choose one advanced class. I chose the Paladin, because it sounded cool and I had no other information to base my choice on.

After that I got a lot of Paladdins and Purifiers as mission rewards, but for a long time no Libriarian or the other one (Chaplain?). I really liked the Paladin, the Purifiers not so much.

Somewhere near the end I got to choose between a mission with a Librarian as reward and a mission with a Chaplain as a reward. I chose the Libriarian (which kicked ass) and got the chance to use it for +- 4 missions. Never got the chance to aquire a Chaplain again, which bugs me, because I missed out on some content. They should do something so you can somehow semi-reliably aquire every class.

Oh, it DOESN'T increase chances for advanced classes? So I should stick to the level 1 upgrade?
Do we actually know this? Is it possible (and feasable) to get advanced classes at Knight Req 1? Is that the optimal level to go for?

A justicar of mine returned from the mission "Call to glory"
The message says "a knight has returned and now is a memeber of the Paladins" even in the green line there it says NEW Paladin. But when i go to the barracks he is a Justicar like always.
Is that bugged or what?

When you look at the rewards you can see what type of character you are going to get. It is determined before you finish the mission, as in when you look at the planet in the map you can see the armoury rewards, including the marine class as well as the weapons and armour and equipment.

You can now respec.. doing that makes more sense to have a fully upgraded requisition order so they turn up with as many points as possible and then respect them. Respecting takes 2 rec and some time, but it is way faster than levelling a lev 1 marine, unless you are lucky enough to have one of the big AOE melee weapons drop for you.

To be honest, even after the respec addition I don't feel the urge to upgrade my Knight Requisition. I've just got a brand new Librarian and after the first mission he's level 6. (I did feed him kills quite religiously, though.)

Maybe I'll do it more on the next playthrough. Then again, my next playthrough will be Legendary, and supposedly requisition will be even more precious there. I might end up keeping doing what I'm doing.

Sounds buggy to me. Are you sure you didn't confuse the names, and that some other Knight ended up a Paladin than you think? Last names often repeat.

My Paladin quest ended as expected, with a level 9 Paladin with skills unspent (wish all Advanced classes came like this :D )

You get ONE for free from Titan and the rest is RNG. Paladins and Librarians are more important. The rest is in the "nice to have" category.

Enjoy "emergent gameplay"!

Ah well, it is the "chesse wiz" class, so I fully understand the sentiment. But given the Provoke(Taunt) change, that's all he is now. A cheese enabler for higher difficulties.

There are more fun choices tbh. (buff Purifier, ktnxbai!)

That's a funny way to put it. I created that team to avoid cheese, specifically the AP farming and injections of the other builds. Instead, I wanted an old-style 1993 X-com "maneuver and shoot" positional kind of gameplay. How you figure Chaplain to be the most cheesy class you'll have to explain.

1 chap == +1 AP on Execute Buff, 2nd chap on +crit chance, mele weapons on attacker with +stun, maybe a justicar to add AP as well.

My fav team is kinda old school like you are saying. I am having a lot of fun with double Paladin, Double Purgator.

I figured an Execute group wouldn't use a second Chaplain, since I'd rather take a class that can provide a source of reliable stuns. But I hadn't looked into that build that much (actually trying it now that I got the Librarian).

My dream team is:
1x +crit chance Chaplain (+ extractor skull, + provoke back when it worked)
1x +crit damage Chaplain (+ healing skull, + provoke back when it worked)
1x Psilencer Purgator (focused on autos)
1x Psilencer Purgator (focused on grenades)

Simple, powerful, fun.

change the auto purgators to use a gun with enrage on it. Wear +focus gear as needed to 100% reload and apply enrage. Blast area will enrage everything, 3 shots can enrage 3, 2 reaction shots also apply entrage. You can pull far more than provoke ever did + it adds damage and stun.
