Also yeah RTS stands for "Real Time Strategy" and this has no real time elements at all.
I dont think the setting would be suitable for total war. For one there would be way more ranged combat than is typical is a total war game. On top of that how many factions in 40k do you think would deploy soldiers with firearms in box formation? Theres no way to replicate warfare post gunpowder age in the total war system.
Demonhunters is an amazing turn-time strategy. It's well polished, lore-accurate, extremely detailed and perfectly captures the 40K setting.
It might not be the specific genre you wanted so much, with your specific favourite faction playable, but it remains an excellent game for the setting. Without a doubt the best one released since Space Marine. Battle Sector was pretty good too.
And RTS is dead.
