Personally, I know for sure that I will spend hundreds of hours on this title and that is not bad thing, quite the opposite! :)
Some of the combat holdups are a bit much though, I'd be happier if it was a large variance of sync combat or something but it's mostly faffing about.
Every self-respecting X-com and X-com-clone from the early days of the genre, starting from the very first one in 1993, and /including the original Chaos Gate from 1998/, knows how to respect the player's time.
They have options that govern movement animation speed and, in some games, separately an option for shooting animation speed, so you can slow/speed those up as you want.
See here: https://images.pcgamingwiki.com/6/6a/Warhammer_40000_Chaos_Gate_settings.png

And there is basically no time-wasting outside of combat, either, as everything happens instantly or is skippable with a single click.
This game, on the other hand, while well designed in many ways, feels like... swimming... in... glue... mixed... with... tar...
Why do I need to see an unskippable movie at the start of a mission?
Why do I need to see an unskippable movie at the end of a mission?
Why do I need to see listen to all this unskippable dialog at the start of certain missions?
Why do I need to see the camera slooowly panning to each Bloom group on a map every time, when they move?
Why can't the camera pan be faster, for that matter?
And a dozen other questions like that.
(Note: I already have the two relevant options turned off. It still doesn't turn off nearly enough of the timewasters.)
And as to the movies that are skippable, why can't I skip them with a single click? Sometimes you have 2+ movies chained together. You have to skip each separately by holding space. And you can't just put a weight on the spacebar and wait; you have to let go of space after the first one, then press it again once you've judged that the next movie has started. Ridiculous.
And combat is so slow, too. If I double click on a location, I know my Marine is going to get there. I know he's going to move from A, where he is standing, to B, where i double clicked. Why do I need to waste time on this? It's not an RTS. It's not in real-time. It's a turn-based game, like a thousand other turn-based games that respect the player's time.
Why do I have to wait two seconds for a reload to finish? You do a lot of reloading in this game, it doesn't need to be a speedbump.
Even worse with the Aegis, which makes sense to use a lot, perhaps dozens of time per mission. You should totally be able to tab to the next Knight while your currently selected one is casting his Aegis.
Just give us an option "Fast in-game animations." or something.
Or skip to the end if I press space during the movment.
Or let us start giving orders to the next guy while the first one is moving. Many past X-coms had that. The actual XCOM from 2012 had that, IIRC, and this is obviously what this game is based on, so why the step back?
So, to sum up, please give us:
1. Speed up the combat:
- an option for faster in-game animations, including things like reloads/Aegis,
- and/or the ability to skip character movement to the end by pressing space again (same thing for the time wasted on the camera moving towards detected enemy groups),
- and/or the ability to start giving orders to the next guy during the first one's movement.
2. Faster camera scroll, and instant camera turns
3. The ability to skip ALL the movies, including mission start/end, and mission dialogs
4. The ability to skip movies instantly instead of having to hold space for two seconds.
5. Instant UI in the base, instead of wasting so much of my time when I'm trying to move my gear around the squad. More convenient UI would be nice, too.
6. Everything Else Like That, whatever I haven't thought of/noticed yet.
