I am also used to it and have no issues navigating in it but can understand if someone doesn't like it.
The fairest thing would be to add an option to change it either way, similar to the unit label.
At least a mod adding this option. Hopefully it will come. I don't know which one should be the default option, but after playing a lot of skirmish games, this feels so weird. Do i have to memorize every single unit/regiment/batallion one by one and quickly pick the correct option and then the sub tab to find unit.
Pausing the game takes away the immersion and fun totally for me. I just don't like doing it. And why would I have such difficulty that I don't have on MP?
Bruh. If you say 'that's not the way the operational level command and control works' then WARNO should better think if it's real. This is a video game. It's not even seeing itself as a 'milsim' or anything. I like the realism aspect, but putting units in groups with types in the 'deployment menu' which obviously only a thing in the game but not in the real life, does not kill the realism of the game or any other thing. There are so many 'arcade' or 'game' things in WARNO that I can not even count (which is good, because this is a GAME which shouldn't be a boring modern strategy simulator), is this the only thing making issue?
The platoons are mostly in as LARP imo.
But guy was right. This setup portrays actual battalion's strength and allows to easily control it's state. Most of the units won't consist even a half of tabs due to their specialised role so it's not hard to manage.
This kind of unit setup is one of the coolest things in AG and you want it to be changed because you're not capable to find what you need. If I operate realistic, premade units during strategic phase I want to get the same layout during battle to control how many stuff I have in each one of them.
In Steel Division 2 it works great and gives the feeling of realism to someone who's familiar with military tactics and various forces composition.
I think in the tactical battles there could be an option to have it be organized either way. Its totally fair you enjoy it the way it currently is, but i think it wouldnt be a bad idea for the option to have it organized in the way it is during skirmish.
Then very simply why is it grouped by the unit type on almost any other game mode?
