when the infantry dismount/artillery unhitches -> transport follows.
Infantry move to cover per ROE setting.
Once infantry/artillery stops moving, transport moves to cover per ROE setting.
Give infantry/artillery a move order and the transport moves to follow again.
Could expand this even further: make it the default behavior whenever infantry or artillery has *any* valid transport following it be to pack up and move when given a move fast order. This way if you have a spare truck or BMP or something left over and an infantry unit that lost its transport you can re-engage this behavior by just giving the new transport a move order on the infantry per OP.
Make the auto-sell transport on/off button override this behavior.
I think it could reasonably be made to work without having to add any new UI elements as well, other than a check box in the options menu to turn auto-follow on or off.
micro is one of the points of an RTS game, u can win outnumbered and outgunned if you put in some effort.
the auto load up and move for infantry just makes the game easier for noobs, while not adding much for better players.
transport micro is a real thing and has saved some of my men multiple times. use your eyes people please.
same logic as pinging at the start of games, yes it makes it easier, its not needed tho
