WARNO

Is this game worth it? Even without any DLCs
As the title says I'm planning to buy this game but the thing is I'm kinda worried if the all good divisions locked behind the paywall? Also is the game enjoyable? I've played both WG series and the Steel Division so I'm familiar to concept of this game has..
Thanks in advance and have a good day/night.

100% worth it. I've played all realistic military RTS games I could find and this is the one for me. I could spend hour here explaining why.

Warno is life. 500h in and I still can't get enough!

There are plenty of good decks in the base game -- 3rd Armored is still probably the best NATO division overall. If you stick around you can decide if any of the new divisions seem worthwhile to you. On the bright side, they're spread out across multiple DLCs... so if for example you really want the 101st Airborne division, it's in the $4.99 Nemesis Pack #1.

The NORTHAG and planned SOUTHAG expansions are costlier, adding more divisions/countries and single player stuff, which may or may not interest you.

I'm interested in playing minor nations such as Belgium, Netherlands etc. I know most if not all polish decks came out with the recent DLC

You have a small amount of such units in the base game; but almost all minor nations will be a part of DLCs

… if we’re talking about multiplayer, it’s slightly different in campaign

Yes, even without the DLCs, WARNO is worth it.

Dude don't be silly.

You could argue the realism of maybe Close Combat or Combat Mission. But WARNO?

Especially without mods?

Beach please.

That doesn't mean the game is bad. It's really good. Just not realistic.

Note the difference between a game that is called a 'Realistic RTS', and the games you listed, which are Military Simulators.

WARNO is a realistic RTS, as the level below this is games akin to C&C series, Age of Empires, and so on, aka Traditional RTS games. WARNO presents the ability to combined arms operations in a realistic capacity without making it tedious, aka what a simulator is designed for. Combat is realistic for the scale basically.

Ah, okay then. I belive they used the term "authenthic" (as in set in a real world, not a fantasy one) before, but yeah, when term realism is thrown around people will usually understand it like I did. And sure, WARNO has realistic maps & equipment or even some elements of real warfare let's loosely say "simulated" (more so in fantastic SCO mod or Combat Team mod), but in general it has a lot of "gamey" mechanics.

He did NOT say that WARNO was realistic, what he did say was "I've played all realistic military RTS games I could find and this is the one for me."

He bundled them all into one category - a category, which is actually more or less defined, by the makers and sellers.

Calling these games "realistic" is definitely not something that @Walpatine started, so why blame him? He, at least, answered the OP's question, which you didn't.

What were you hoping to achieve by calling him a silly beach?

WARNO is a game, first and foremost, they all are. No game is realistic, arguing about whether it is, or isn't, is (really silly) such a waste of energy, why even start on it?

If you want realistic, there are any one of a number of conflicts around the world, get a ticket, most of them will be happy for a new volunteer.

No need to get so angry man.

Why didn't I answer OP's question? I actually kind of did - I said it's a good game.
Whether it's enough for him to buy it, it's up for him. Some people like good games, but some like good games that tick \ check very specific boxes and some people are very particular about that. That's why people tend to get nitpicky, esp. on that realism thing.

Correct. With the current Steam sale, in US prices, it would cost $51.78 for the base game plus NORTHAG DLC if you want to play as Belgium/the Netherlands/Poland.

For $59.92 you can get the gold bundle including the game plus expansion pass, which includes NORTHAG, the upcoming SOUTHAG and the two Nemesis DLCs.

With mods yes. Note it is fairly arcadey, not realistic.
Protoss| Dec 20, 2024 @ 10:54am
Base game has a lot of content already.
Decent mods out there, Game tries to have authentic combined arms.
It doesnt try to be fully realistic combat sim though (Armored brigade 2 would be my go to for that).

There is no planet where Warno would not be included in a list of Realistic RTSs
