Ditch the choppers?
Having some success as the UK 2nd Infantry, but WOW theyre heli tab is awful! I took two Lynx with I-Tow on the theory that I need some sort of chopper support, but they are consistently a waste of time and money.

If I take no heli at all, I can jimmy in an extra card of Challengers... I need to think.

Do you mean the ITOW or the FITOW?

Was the problem that they always seem to miss? I've found that my ATGM helicopters can miss shot after shot, and I've been assuming it's a skill issue on my part not microing them to a complete stop to use their stationary weapons.
The ITOW.
The FITOW seems a bit bugged. An 16 AP missile hitting a target with side armor 3 will kill every time, but the FITOW - which has 16 AP and targets top armor which is usually only 3 strong - seems to be capped at about 4 points of damage.
I stopped using them just use Hellarms in spread formation at the rear of aa net for supporting armour. Plus i would take all the tanks you can.

NATO helos are generally terrible. USSR has good helos but they fly like fat cows get sniped by MANPADs. Only good helos are in the US arsenal and France has decent ones. Pact forces can spam Mi-8 and Mi-24 but they come at a cost in terms of points and mobility. Pact forces have the upper hand for a few minutes until they're overwhelmed by AA from NATO, which they can spam in great numbers. Something pact forces cannot do. They have outdated AA which waste more supplies than needed.

You do need them if you are fighting a Soviet armor deck over open grounds, as their tanks and IFV get plenty of ATGMs that outranged the Milan 2s of the 2nd armor.
Overall, the British deck is a general all-round deck, which means it does okay in all situation but will suffer against specialized decks in their prefer terrain.
The VDV infantries will make short work of the British SAS and airbornes in CQB.
Soviet MBTs and IFVs will outperform the Challies and Warrior over open grounds.
The British air and AA tab is decent, but again lose outright to specialized Soviet air decks and Tungs are the best SPAA in the game.
