WARNO has less content and a way more arcadey feel to it.
I play both, but SD2 tbh feels like a newer game with better/more mechanics lulz.
It suicides units down roads less often (they still do it plenty, just less often), but otherwise puts up a competent fight if you're a SP only kinda person.
SD2 feels a lot better than WARNO because it's well balanced and things act the way you would expect. Not much stands out as un grog like.
SD2 interface and QOL features are light years ahead of SD1 as well.
WARNO is a little more gamey to please the red dragon crowd. For example in WARNO their are no special rounds, Vehicles simply have the round they need loaded and ready for any situation. WARNO though does have some more advanced features over SD2 that i'd love in SD2 and that is auto deployment of smoke on tanks. Unit behaviours are more advanced as well... you can set units to retreat from fights they think they cannot win automatically for example.
That being said, SD2 still is very good and worth a buy. It has as people say, a little more to it in ammo and depth in units.
With the sheer mass amount of infantry units. They can really get into some specialized variations. Infantry could only be so different with equipment, but this will change the game quite a bit imo.
I have been staring at the Warno store page, but I have most DLC for SD2 and with the idea all the highly detailed infantry will be more unique mechanically.
They work for a better AI, there are tutorial missions, mechanics are more user friendly and have more QOL.
Also WARNO is more modern. In my opinion pick WARNO.
