Strategy or Scripted?
I have not played this game yet, and curious before I make the purchase. I usually play Total War titles, ARMA3, and military flight sims. I have played Eugen's Wargame group of games.

Are Warno campaigns scripted - similar to Wargame - with a narrator telling you to capture Zone A, capture Zone B, capture Zone C, etc.. Move on to next map. Capture Zone A, capture Zone B, capture Zone C, etc.. Move on to next map, And so on until the story reaches a happy ending, or not?

Or does the player get to choose and select their own strategic objectives, across a large map of Europe? And tactical objectives on a battle map once you or the enemy choose to engage one another?

Are the division's pre-set, or can you configure your own divisions, fleets and air force?

Is this a game that tests a player's strategy, or is it a game that the player follows a script and handed units to destroy some other units?

Campaign is a mix of RTS and turn-based strategy around the Fulda gap in Germany where the player has to make the operational decisions for his troops.

So its is more like AirLand Battle and Red Dragon but much more in-depth and with accurate Divisions and equipment (cannot be customized).

However, the campaigns have not yet released and will only be fully available when the game fully releases.

Best look up some Youtube videos (and the news posts by the devs):

Here a gameplay one from Steel Division 2, which works just the same as Warno's will:

Apart from the campaigns there are also some standalone scripted missions called operations. A couple of these have already released. So more similar to the missions in European Escalation

There IS no campaign. There is a promise of one and that is all. A promise. No roadmap either.

What you can play is scripted. Unless you play vanilla multiplayer.

If you are used to Arma3 and DCS you best not get your hopes up.

I bought into this Alpha release when I saw that there was a modder's Workshop. But that is a joke, as you can only play ONE mod. There is no mods that I have even seen in multiplayer.

Deck building is a joke. It is very limited as to what you can do.

even the single mission ops have very little of any scripting. its really just skirmish vs ai on a map with set decks.
