Transport helicopters
I can barely see transport helicopters being used. They are easily shot down, stunned and are just not that much reliable as ground transport. And fair enough! Just one thing that may change it, or at least make them more attractive to use:

Currently, a helicopter needs to stop and then descend along the vertical axis which altogether takes quite a long time. In reality, the helicopters don't really do that, do they? Well, not if they are not deploying it's cargo on tiny landing spots surrounded by high rise or trees etc. Maybe it would be worth adjusting the game mechanics so the helicopters, when ordered to deploy troops, slow down WHILE descending? That would speed up the whole process and potentially make them more useful?

Just a thought.

Try bigger maps - I find them a neccessity when playing on long or wide ones - especially when I need that ATGM team right there, right now.

Well you do not drop them right into the combat.
I use them like this. As a fast way to get infantry to the front
I secure an area around a target, and drop them a bit behind into some cover, trees buildings whatever, where it is safe.

Like lets say I want to take the bigger town in two ways.
I will not drop them right in front of the town where there is probably AA and small arms fire. I will drop them around the town somewhere where I know it is safe, behind the trees or where the heli can't be seen, or where I already have other units waiting for the push into the town.
I then move the airmobile infantry closer to the target on foot instead.

you can always smoke area you are going to land so it is harder to shoot those down

The landing and takeoff mechanics are quite poor, the same goes for gunships. Often they go from full speed to pulling up their nose to come to a complete stop, and then in the case of transports they will slowly descend.

It has been like this since Wargame:EE, and if they haven't fixed it since then I doubt they will now.

I mean, as someone stated earlier, most of the time you want them to drop a bit further behind, not in front of the enemy.

Yeah, I get it, they do have their use but it is limited due to poor mechanics as @Scanny summarised that. It would be great if that could be worked on.
