SVD and VSS Vintorez Range
Well that's just funny.

The direct range of the Dragunov SVD sniper rifle is:

according to the head figure, 30 cm high - 350 m,
according to the chest figure, 50 cm high - 430 m,
according to the running figure, 150 cm high - 640 m.
The PSO-1 sight is designed for shooting up to 1300 meters, but at this range you can only shoot effectively at a group target, or conduct harassing fire.

The main difficulty when shooting at long ranges are errors in preparing the initial data for shooting (this is true for all sniper rifles). At a distance of 600 meters, the median error in height (in determining the range equal to 0.1% of the range) is 63 cm, the median error in the lateral direction (determining the crosswind speed equal to 1.5 m/s) is 43 cm. For comparison, the median deviation of the dispersion of bullets for the best snipers for 600 m is 9.4 cm in height, 8.8 cm in the side.

About VSS Vintorez

Designed to engage targets with sniper fire in conditions requiring silent and flameless firing. At ranges up to 400 m, the defeat of manpower protected by bulletproof vests of the 1st and 2nd protection levels, as well as being in unarmored vehicles, is ensured.

It just looks ridiculous. You would have already added a Mosin Rifle for advice or SV-98.

I have a man playing varno from the KGB special forces "Vympel", he just laughed for three minutes when I told him on the phone about Vintorez shooting at 1200 meters.

(According to the screw cutter, the information was taken from the website of the Russian Ministry of Defense.)

guess evey one is over looking that in the 80's /coldwar Russia doctrine was to have 1 marksman/svd per squad, so ever squad in warno should have a marksman.

soviet squads do have many SVDs, but not really every squad has one.
IIRC it's 2 SVD per platoon.

As for the actual post about range.
It's because the game scales everything up.
You should divide that by ~3.53 (10/2.83)
1200m is hence approx. 340m.

I am the head of the KGB Special Forces IRL, and I can assure you, none of my men spoke to you over the phone.

According to your formula, it turns out that the L-96 shoots at 396 meters ... what a ridiculous formula and a funny game.

It's a pity for you, the KGB has not existed for 30 years.

You'd better tell your "man from the KGB Special Forces Vympel", in that case.

Yea, the game is very weird compared to SD / Wargame

I have not noticed problem with rifle range, but when playing against AI and tried turn of any pointd gaining, my tanks run out of fuell even before reaching second end of the map...

Tanks with fuell tanks for 600km...
