What role does Aircraft have currently in WARNO?
If you wont add completely off map striking like tactical Nukes, strategic bombing, why use aircraft you cant micro?
Aircraft and Arty have same tasks.
The counterS of Aircraft are?
The counter of Arty is?
I agree totally that they also effectively rendered helicopters obsolete. Planes do the same thing as helicopters but faster and with far more damage.
Eugen claims that they know the scale of their own game but I vehemently disagree with them. If they truly understood the scale of their game, jets would never have been added. They are just too powerful and too fast to be represented in a way that is balanced without support deck players complaining about them not instantly annihilating entire armies in one attack run.
Eugen claims that systems like the Patriot are out of the game's scale, but then adds things like the Mirage 4 strategic bomber, which is exactly the sort of plane that long range anti-bomber radar AA would be used against. Without planes, there would actually be no need for such systems and Eugen's claim about them being out of scale would actually be genuine, but sadly that's not the case here.
On top of all that, planes have always handled very awkwardly and been clunky and unwieldy since they are units capable of 3d movement forced into a 2d game. This is less of an issue with helicopters since they can hover in place, but planes are unable to effectively maneuver like they should, making them just handle poorly and awkwardly. They simply do not fit with the game's engine.
