No matter that you have amphi capability. Most of units are not like SP arty, log units or tanks. So without other things the game just ends.
On the Campaign map to stop enemies from manoeuvring strategically? 100%
Esp if you could also build pontoon bridges.
in short tactical battles? hell n and it aint even that realistic, bridges are harder to blow up then people might think.
Agreed. Just a natural consequence of map design that often includes bridges like loop/chemical
I still think it would be worth implementing in some way in SP
In SP campaigns it can just be scripted like it was in COH. The number of assets needed would be minimal. In MP though it would not be a good addition.
Forgot to include this thought in the OP:
It could be implemented that only sapper engineers can destroy bridges. This is more realistic (it was pointed out above that bridges are harder to destroy than you would think, esp. by arty and air) and would mostly negate early game bridge destruction rush cheese.
A few forward deploy units have satchels, but if a ~1 minute timer was applied to the charge setting process it would be very hard to cut bridges in the middle without having those teams destroyed first.
