WARNO

"Fs-EINSATZGRUPPE"?
Hey, uh, what's the origin of these units?

There are only 15 search results for "Fs-EINSATZGRUPPE" on Google, and they're all to do with WARNO. Take off that "Fs" and you get the Nazi SS death squads, who were key players in the mass murder of civillians in WW2.

So... why are there units called that in this game? Are there there Eastern German units were there that also happen to bear this name, somehow? I couldn't find any on Google...

Im from Germany and the local Fire Fighters in my town also have an "Einsatzgruppe Waldbrand"..., it literally just means taskforce (forest fires).

The infamous WW2 Einsatzgruppen of SD and SS have been formed to start with the systematic murder of jews, homosexuals, dissidents, communists and many others - paramilitary death squads.

You also don't come across this term very often in germany today, its rightly stigmatised, but in principle it only means taskforce, as i said. Its also a bit old fashioned as far as terms go, in the GDR they considered themselfes as germans who had totally nothing to do with WW2 crimes and had less problems with the term i guess.

So lets say when some east german Paratroopers would have been ad hoc embedded into some other formation it would be reasonable those would have been called FS (Fallschirmjäger) Einsatzgruppe. I suppose thats all there is to it - it would not be some official and permanent unit designation, just a practical one.

"Einsatzgruppe" means "task group". Although it has a bad WW2 vibe, it is a common German word.
"Fs" in front of it stands for "Fallschirmjäger".

This unit was part of a special company within FJR 40 using US equipment to infiltrate their lines prior to a Pact offensive, the same way Skorzeny commandos did in the Bulge in 1944.

I had a feeling it was probably something like that, given the literal translation. I just had a lot of trouble finding anything that wasn't related to the SS.

Thanks for the clarification!

We can be free of it, but it has to be actively searched for and rooted out. The SD2 forums are an excellent example of what happens if you don't aggressively hunt down and ban 1940's Germany nonsense.

The word isn't known in English for anything else. That's just how it is.

Anyway, my initial query has been answered, so I'm off. Have fun.

Wrong. FschJg stands for Fallschirmjaeger. FS is just a short form you made up, same as you made up most other stuff you come up with on here.

I am moving on. I also dislike your recent SEK update as it is historically not accurate.
