Also, like BroVVn said, the "point" of the Tornado MW1 is to have an anti-infantry cluster-bomber -- the only one in the game, so far.
1) This isn't Wargame,
2) Anti-Vehicle cluster bombs are already present in WARNO, and
3) There's no reason Eugen can't add new weaponry (which is a historically accurate payload for the Panavia Tornado) in their new game.
This is not wargame and I thought they would make this game more realistic and fix mistakes they did with wargame... Cluster bombs are used against infantry and lightly armoured vehicles not against MBTs or armored targets. Only some cluster type bombs are designed against vehicles but non against MBTs really.
So why not implementing it as such...
They got flamed how airplanes are too powerful and how a single plane is deleting an entire column of vehicles and infantry tightly packed together.
I think developers should not listen to every arcade player in the community. People constantly screaming for balance are usually the same people to quit a match as soon as it gets tough and challenging. Their opinion is completely irrelevant.
Either you focus on realism and accept a certain imbalance or you focus on fairness and balance and end up with an arcade game for the masses. If you only care about money, then you to latter, if you want to be proud of your work, you do the first.
AIM-9s should be removed from Tornados or from any strike plane because with 4HE 2x of them is pointless and just makes more expensive the plane while they do not have any killing power.
They are still present in WARNO... :(
I really don't see the point of this discussion. The Tornado with MW 1 under the fuselage is a beast when it comes to destroy larger columns or blobs of enemy units, killing all lighter vehicles and infantry in the blast zone and at least stunning most tanks.
The only downside is, that the plane has to fly directly in a straight line over the enemy units which inevitably leads to anti-aircraft fire, but that's something you just have to evaluate in your decission of using it.
And to make something very clear.
This plane was not even CLOSE of having the firepower of a B-52.
Two AIM-9s were the standard loadout for any mission that plane would have flown, duo to the possibility of defending itself from enemy interceptors. Sure, doesn't bring much to the table but the points per round in Warno are (currently) not so low like in Red Dragon, so a few points more or less wouldn't make that much of an impact.
Aas far as I remeber that decission was made duo to a bug that created extreme overpowered cluster-amunation when infantry was hit and said bug was basically not in another way fixable duo to a hardcoded issue back in the day.
