Really?! $70 for Deluxe Edition!
Come on Square Enix! Adding extra $20 for artbook and mini-soundtrack is not worth the value at all. Just why? 🤦‍♀️

Not just those, also materias (dark fire, dark thunder, dark blizzard) come in early game. Maybe pre-purchase only.

Square Enix
Do not buy it

If you really want the soundtrack, get the full one on CD
Those plus updated graphics does not seem that price is worth it, I did enjoy Crisis Core on my PSP all those years ago and would like to play it again, but I'll probably wait years for it to come down, sad how these companies keep making very little additions or remasters with high price when it's not justified, oh well, *sigh.

Don't buy the deluxe edition then

Then don't buy it? Some people will want the extras, others won't. That's why you have a choice.

If you think this a lazy remaster then I suggest you take another look at the PSP version. That was 15 years ago, and on a handheld. I doubt that anything was actually carried over from the original game to the point that this is more of a remake than a remaster. Then there's the updated soundtrack, smoother gameplay and all new, full voice acting. There certainly are some lazy remasters out there, but this isn't one of them.

I played PSP verison recently and the main issue with it is the same as most PSP games : very long (and noisy) loading times

I finally preordered the PS4 version
It might be a bit inferior but the steelbook and a box for the same price makes me happier

First I never said it was a lazy remaster/remake (I'm sure plenty of work went into it, like other games out there), simply stated the fact that a lot if not "most" remasters/remakes are just junk and made for an easy cash grab.

And you have not even played this so you can hardly tell me or others what's in the game (just from reading what they tell you) and know if it'll be good in any way...

And I do hope it'll be good and worth the price but from experience, it's not looking good and SE has a track record on that list.

Wait... should I not buy from them, or should I wait for a sale to buy? Help, which is it? I think I may be pretty stupid.

Edit: Never mind; already preordered deluxe edition. Guess I'm pretty stupid. Or I just like FF7.

Im considering to buy the deluxe version too, but I do have question. How will we get the original artbook? Will we receive it as a book or files digitally?

It's funny how often people on Steam seem to post stupid stuff like that, "I'm not paying $70, should be $60....game looks like crap anyway! So I'll just wait for a 50% off sale".

Never thought there would be complaints over a soundtrack and artbook. Digital ones at that. They're the most useless things you can get in higher editions of games lol if you care so much about it, you can get them in better form elsewhere down the line.

Not like it wont be all over YouTube and Reddit the day of release either .

It really depends on how you look at it. Think of it as a gofundme of sorts. It is a way for dedicated fans like myself to support more games coming to Steam. We vote with our dollars and buy purchasing their games on Steam they see over time (if enough of us do it) that this is where they need to release their games. That extra content isn't really that crazy and some of us can live without it, but it is a small way we can financially support the work we love and bring more of it to Steam in the future. I am paying the extra $20 for something I probably won't really use all that much, but still want to support them.

You have to buy the deluxe to get the artbook, pre-ordering only gets you materia.
