If YOU don't value YOUR saves that is YOU. MOST of us actually give a ♥♥♥♥ about the investment we put into individual save files.
I also would not want to restart my ENTIRE world just for some "new content". An ENTIRE new playthrough just for SOME new content? REDO all the OLD content AGAIN just to see a smidge new stuff? Lmao I spent 500 hours building those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ castles l m f a o NO
Did you all miss that?
Your old map should still work in your solo game, but you will not have any of the new stuff
They're giving you a years notice.
edit: removed trolling insulting 'joke'
edit: so many spelling misstakes and ♥♥♥♥. sorry
Anyway I did find the the mod that lets you Save your Castle(s) and reload them into another map. However, I'm not sure if it'll work if the devs decided to remold the map but I tested this out from one Vamp to another Vamp Map fresh clear of the area and I had my simon ambush castle plot in. Came with servants so this could be game breaking but I'm sure people can have strong wills to not abuse it......*smirk*

Works just fine on my end. there's a discord with help and everything.
The premise is: do I get to use my 500 hour save for the new content, yes or no.
Apparently the answer is no.
Hey devs, why not just implement castle exportation and importation? You can still gamify it like, "yeah sure here is the ghost of your castle, now go get all the materials still to fill it in"
I wonder how much the devs realize they didn't just make a combat game. They made a sandbox creation game. Minecraft players are here to build castles, not just kill Dracula 50 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ times in a row. Fighting Dracula can eat my ass, I hated fighting him and barely felt good for winning. I feel good when I finish a bad ass castle.
Btw, it's not recommended to save builds via Kindred Schematics with servants, the system of saving schematics is designed mainly for builds which don't involve any reliance on castle heart power anything that relies on the castle heart as a part of it's mechanic will have technical issues.
Mods that interact with the world might be more directly affected by V1.1 such as all of the Kindred Mods as they interact with the world specifically & will require a re-working for game world compatibility but everything should technically be fine.
Bloodcraft & XPRising will probably need a refactoring as well since prefabs get moved around with every new update along with the new prefabs being added along with changes to vanilla combat.
People will after alll need to play V1.1 vanilla to better understand the new base mechanics, I don't recommend new people who never played vanilla to any sort of modded combat experiences just so you know.
In any which case there will just fewer modded servers as of V1.1 the remaining private modded servers will become testing servers (likely password locked) for reliability & performance debugging like mine. while the rest of the community recuperates from the changes.
You do not understand how this game functions. It runs off a peer-to-peer network system in which the host player creates a server. The game itself runs off the host's system. Or a dedicated server.
You are thinking this game runs off some online only server or something. You only need the internet if you want others to join your server, you join their server or you want to join an official / dedicated server. But no internet is required at all to play a private server.
Private Offline :
Start Game > Click Load Game > Under Local Saves - Select Your Server Name >
Click LAN Server > Click Host Game
Selecting the LAN option just ensures the server is restricted only to your local area network and not online. If you plan to be online but want the server to remain offline, LAN should be selected.
Offline ( No Internet Required ) :
While Offline ( Not Connected To The Internet ) :
Go In Offline Mode With Steam > Start Game > Click Load Game >
Under Local Saves - Select Your Server Name > Click LAN Server > Click Host Game
NOTE : Your network adapter must be enabled to play in offline mode even though you are not connected to the internet. If network adapters are disabled, it will not create or load a game or server.
The Cloud And Local Saves Can Be Found :
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios
%appdata%\..\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\
( copy/paste that line in your file explorer and hit enter )
Guy also said it was a "tall order". So? I spent 500 hours on my current save. I think it's a "tall order" to ask me to abandon all of that.
And the game is incomplete as they have one more major update on the way which will cause incompatible saves. They should have kept the game in early access and not get everyone excited to play again and waste time and effort. So I understand. 300+ hours wasted. The other hours I have put into the game was during early access and I knew incompatible saves were going to be a given then.
