Is the base game worth it or do I need the DLCs to have fun ?
Yeah, I know it's very subjective.

They are decorative DLCs

Only cosmetics, so no. Not needed.

The base game is slow and grindy and they removed game server settings you had access to before to reinforce that. DLC is way overpriced but at least cosmetic only.

Still changeable through the server config files. Now, granted, you shouldn't have to do that, but still... they exist. Just not changeable from within the game. For some reason. My game is everything but slow and grindy after some tweaks.

i mean... it's the game genre , and the server settings isnt big deal. ( i didnt even notice it )

Game is totally worth it and for me personaly, it's the best game ( PvPvE survival open world ) in the market rn, so yeah give it a try.

*Especially if you like the vampire setting, it's the only good vampire game out there

Compared to early access (with default settings) The game is much better paced with the grinding.

No, you have access to the settings in the settings files, see C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VRising\VRising_Server\VRisingServer_Data\StreamingAssets\Settings for the template.

As for the topic: No, the DLC are just "supporter packs" with some cosmetic options. Doesn't change the gameplay (unless you consider having access to a lot of variety to decorate your castle with as gameplay).

Several settings were removed from the in-game menu. As others have pointed out, they can be changed in the xcl file, but we shouldn't need to do that, the settings should be available in-game.

I think they have to have been talking about using the dedicated server program to set up a server (you can still have it be local only)
