spear good
slashers and swords are both pretty decent for harvesting rows of herbs, though. I find slashers (the Q ability, forget what it's called, zippy there and back again) are great if I have herbs in a 2x6 line, and swords (whirlwind) are better for wider, stumpier layouts like 3x4 or 3x5.
It's worth noting that +25% to vegetation is an utterly worthless damage bonus and that the scythe is nearly as good at harvesting a lot of herbs at once with its Q as the sword is.
If I HAD to use swords or slashers for fighting, I would probably go with slashers. Both the sword's Q and E seem lacklustre compared to the slashers'. Sword does look cooler, however, I think, but that's a matter of taste. I don't really like the whole illidari knockoff look of the slashers. If I could use any weapon I would use literally every other weapon but swords or slashers. Axes are great, spears are great, scythe's great, crossbow's great. Swords & slashers, for me, are for picking flowers.
SPEAR me from your stupidity please.

It means that you voluntarily became the one who can not read =)
Welcome to the club pal!
Please introduce more insults so everyone can see how clever you are =)
The scythe is very useful as a vegetation harvesting tool. Its normal attack has great reach so it'll never fumble, the circle attack will reap an entire circle of crops, and the throw attack will reap half a dozen more.
Also Slasher auto-attack dps is the lowest, after all is more a PvP weapon than PvE, so mixing it with Reapers is a good idea, also let you setup easy reapers E and Q in PvP.
Sword despite the nerfs is still the weapon with the highest basic attack DPS, but if is for spaming basics then you can just pick an Axe.
To be honest, despite slashers technically having the lowest dps and sword having the highest, I don't really notice the difference between the two in terms of practical use in combat. The differences between their respective skills, however, is very noticeable to me.
I also don't really understand how the stun from shockwave comes into play as a balancing factor. It takes a long time to cast and hit + hit the second press and the duration of the stun keeps the target from being hit by anything else right? Not 100% sure how it works in PvP. Either way, what are you realistically able to cancel that you couldn't already cancel with any of the numerous stuns from other weapons?
Hmm, the more I think about it the more I think the sword needs a redesign. Perhaps it is not very balance-able with its current skillset if the considerations for the nerf actually matter a lot in PvP. In other words, I don't think the solution is to neuter its performance in PvE if that is the case. As someone else said, I'm only using it for the cosmetic factor. The more I get used to other weapons the less I feel good about using it.
Thoughts? (If this is derailing the thread let me know!)
Are there any plant enemies at all? I can't think of any now that I try.
Maneaters and Treants are the only plant-based enemies currently implemented afaik. That is assuming that the plant bonus actually works against them. I was under the impression that it was only for farming purposes similar to the axe and the mace. If not, in that case the axe would technically receive a bonus to Treants and the mace would receive a bonus to Stone Golems I'd imagine.
There's nothing this weapon brings to the table, and the only reason to use it is because you don't yet have slashers.
I do appreciate the thoughts on other weapons too.
A good discussion in any case.
Thank you again.
