oh and pvp is a mess right now, as you might of expected.
They have griefers too, the most common trick they do is block your way to the roads from your castle with walls if you don't quickly connect a border path to the road from your castle heart.
I assume people will steal your stuff too if you leave your doors open, I haven't tried the public servers yet though.
The thing which is better in public PvE servers is that the time of your servant missions counts down in real time even when you are not logged in. The downside of this is that your castle heart will be also consuming blood 24/7, the same goes for your horses with water and so on.
But after that 100 hours the game offers no replayability over then a social/play while talking game.
The games pve is severely lacking and the pvp is well as you would expect full of pvp addicts.
And this is what annoys me big time - I play solo right now for two reasons: a) currently hard to find time to play with friends (family demands) and b) trying to learn the game before jumping into online.
But one of the coolest features (servants) is completely unusable in solo. Every time I quit the game, the timer pauses. Wasn't I supposed to be a vampire lord? Feels more like a Farmville or Hay Day clone with a vampire twist.
Also: why can't we export a solo character and import it into a new game with friends later? To think that we need to start over the grind is hindering us from starting a new playthrough.
100 hours of gameplay for a $20 game in EA is more content than 99% of the games offer for that price. Complaining about it is kinda ridiculous.
You get your 100 hours worth and then you take a break to allow devs the time to add more content. You come back in half a year or a year, do another 100 hours. Rinse and repeat until full launch and by then there might be enough content to keep you busy for a 1000 hours.
-Yes, you can tell what settings the server has before joining it. It's shown on the right hand side of your screen when you click on a server, with a drop down that shows more details.
-I believe there's a server setting that keeps other people from doing anything to your castle, including opening chests, as long as your castle heart has juice. While playing with a friend, I couldn't touch her stuff until we put together a clan. (I could be remembering this wrong as it was at the very beginning of our playthrough, but I'm at least 90% sure this is the case.)
What's the difference between solo and non-solo? It's just having other people around. I like to do a lot of things on my own, but I like knowing that I can run into someone and even help each other out from time to time. If you don't care much about that, then I'd say there's not much of a point to playing in PVE with others ~at the moment~. At this time, I don't think there's enough content yet to make much of a difference. Perhaps if they introduced some kind of trading system alongside professions/specializations so that there's a large benefit for playing with others (just allow some settings people can change if they're playing solo); dungeons that scales in difficulty and loot quality depending on the amount of people in it; some dynamic events that happen in the towns that make it fun to get together for; etc. Just some things I could think of that could make for a fun PVE in this game.
TLDR: you can definitely find unofficial servers with settings to your liking, if you think you'll have fun playing alongside random folks online. And there's not much of a difference between solo and non-solo servers as there isn't enough in the game to make that difference, in my experience at least.
Advantages of PVE server:
Play with friends / have help with bosses (if needed) / social interaction :D / Time progression for servants'hunts
U dont need to play full loot PvP so u can keep your items and armor when u die,but they take 15% dura loss.
