Recommended settings for a solo private game?
I really wish there was an official premade settings list for this, but in the mean time what settings would anyone who's done this suggest to make the game more friendly for a solo player?

I'm personally running with x2 stack size, 5x crafting rate and 3x refinement rate in my solo game. haven't really felt the need, to change anything else. :)

Teleporting with resources is recommended, as there's no added risk in running across the map constantly. It's just a nuisance solo.

You can up your castle limit to whatever you want, since there's no competition. I increased my castle size to 100 > 150 > 200 > 250 since space isn't an issue.

I got rid of repairs since they're only an annoyance; they don't add any interesting gameplay or anything.

Like above, I increased stack sizes and reduced the idle game timers because they don't add anything on a solo private server.

Teleport with resources, cut the time of hunts by 90%, boost stack size and harvest rates, increased number of castles(you'll be able to build personal teleporters at each later anyway).

It really depends on what sort of experience you're going for. Many people recommend increasing resource pickup, turning on resource teleportation, and numbing down enemy damage, but i've personally found the default settings to be fine as someone who is okay just gradually progressing and playing over time.

If you want to skip the grind and long walks on the beach though, then doubling up on resource collection and turning on teleportation would be the way to go. Also, the bosses can be pretty difficult if you're not into tactical realtime combat, so if you want to just face tank things or don't want to fuss with it, might want to turn down that damage, as they can be rough.
Oddly enough, I thought teleport without resources would be difficult.
It was.

But the game actually became more fun that way. Now I actually have to carry resources from castle to castle, dismantle older ones as I push forward, it adds a challenge, a very nice one.

Also, it actually does make more sense in my own headcanon, since all those resources are full of matter and mass, if one were to teleport with such masses and densities, catastrophe could follow.

And by catastrophe I mean a Giga Big Bang times one Octrillion.

Double your stack size. Take a 3rd off the bosses attack and health. Set long day, short night. Weaken sunlight. There might be a few more setting I adjusted slightly.
These setting make my solo game fun without the frustration.
You just have to watch you don't adjust stuff that can make the game boring such as unlocking research or weakening mobs, boosting your own stats, stuff like that.
Weakening bosses makes sure you don't get hung up on one, you can always handle it.
I don't mind the sun mechanic but it goes on far to long.
I double my stack so I don't have to keep coming back to my house to unload every 5 minutes.

You can cut down hunt times ? I've been fiddling with settings but i haven't found a way to do that. Servant convert rate sure but not hunts. I'd welcome some advice if you've got any to spare on this one.

Give yourself the max possible castle hearts

This, this and so much this.

I forgot to mention it, but of all things I would change, this would be that one thing, if anything.
By default you only get 2 hearts, but with the way you progress through the areas, this means you'll either be stuck with areas with no castles, or have to tediously relocate which is a huge pain.

I would recommend setting this to maximum, since it's a setting that's only really useful for online play, not solo.

anything to reduce grind, unless you are into that.
increase stack size, mat gain, production speed.
teleport with items n max castles for more teleportation options.

all i did for my server.
without the grind the games content/bosses can be done in 10h

Not to my knowledge, unless something was changed in the last update.

That isn't a challenge. That's just tedious. You can outrun every enemy fairly easily. The teleportation restriction makes some sense in a PVP environment, but it's pointless in a pure PVE or solo environment unless you enjoy wasting time holding W or turning the camera with autorun on.

Well, i looked around and i found a "workaround" : max out servant hunt yield, and then from the throne you send them on minimum time hunts (2h i think). Still not ideal but it's certainly better.

Allowing teleportation with loot partially invalidates cave passages as a game mechanic (still useful for ferrying charmed humans). There are 5 tiers of storage containers, i only had an issue with stacks from letting items sit without doing anything with them. Crafting time isnt as big of a deal the more efficient you are; having more refineries and leaving to farm or hunt a boss while objects are converting. I think increasing the castle heart border limit slightly is reasonable, i dont quite have enough space for vermin nests at my main castle myself. Servants are extremely useful and i already feel like 2 hearts might be too much. Otherwise, i kinda feel like the default settings are balanced--having played for 155 hours. This game has a lot of depth and offers solutions to issues if you look hard enough, and for me personally it makes the experience more worthwhile.

Like others said - teleporation restrictions are good for pvp but are pintless and simply add grind in solo. I've relocated one castle and... that's enough for me =) Spening 5-minutes holding W every now end then is not fun at all and in solo there's no risk involved.
Boiledteabag Jun 4, 2022 @ 12:48pm
Why not just make it perma nighttime like every private game player does because they can't stand being burnt by the sun in a vampire game.
