Most of gamers are casuals... and maybe the frost archer is to much for them. Why this is such a problem for people to understand. Yes this game is not for them and the only thing they like is to have a warning, that this game is hardcore. So why not say it is hardcore.
The marketing of the game is "Play as weakend vampire who need some blood and then rebuild your vampire-imperium. Collet humans to make them your slaves, raid villiages and..." maybe the marketing say: "YOU are a overpowered vampire if you get some blood,", not you have problems with a archer who shoots ice arrows or later a normal archer gals who shoot fire arrows that explode like a tactical nuclear bomb. Also you will know when the real "fun" begins.. when octavian say "here is an old trick for you".
And if you get in the last zone, then you will face, plasma boys, rip and tear knights, paladins who buff everything and all want you death, while they want to roast you.
-- If the boss has adds or people wander into the fight, it's generally best to focus on killing them first and then going back to the boss unless the boss is a hair from death.
-- It can help to clear an area of enemies, then lure the boss towards that empty space.
-- If a fight is going poorly, peel off, heal and try again. Beats dying and corpse walking back, and any of their entourage you killed will stay dead for a while.
-- Try a different boss at the same-ish level. You might have an easier time with them and their V-skill might be helpful.
-- Leverage what you can, even if doing so might make the process take longer. Wait until early nightfall to attack so you don't have to rush. Use the terrain to screw up their path-finding and line of sight. Take the time to hunt for better blood. If you can't produce a resource you need to tech up, look for outposts where you could steal it.
short text:
Any tipps for solo Octavian? ;)
I also think that bosses are too quick to lose aggro and fully re-heal. I mean, you can't retreat even a bit, before the boss calls it quits. I additionally think that smaller mobs respawn way too quickly. The day-night cycle is way too short as well.
I was about to quit and trying to refund the game. Steam denied my refund, even though it was bought on the same day.
So I tried again and here's what I did on my solo server:
I adjusted the day-night cycle to be 1.5 as long. Helps immensely with boss fights.
I adjusted the damage output from all mobs (regular and boss) to 0.8.
I went back in and after changing some keyboard settings to better suit my playing style I finally managed to kill all three lvl 20 bosses (2nd day playing the game).
Just like in most games, you have to find a winning strategy and employ it. After finishing this frost archer lady and the mining foreman, my health looked actually still good, since I now knew what to do. Took me several tries to find it out.
So I'm continuing this game (PvE only), and once I get to know it even better, I might re-adjust the damage level back to one.
I'll leave the day-night cycle length. It's just much more convenient.
When he does his spinning tornado attack try to run behind the walls, it wont despawn him and you just have to avoid the little aoes compared to his whole attack.
yup I adjusted the boss health and damage to .85 and I find this to be a happy medium.. still challenging but not crazy.. my buddy and I seem to enjoy it.
