This game's been out for a month + it's a port, dunno why you expected more than that within a time period.
This game is a failure, I could barely find a match Day 3, they removed content, they didn't even implement rollback, and even the port on its own is underwhelming as all hell.
What exactly did they remove ?
That's funny, day 3, I was ranking up in ranked all day. Can't find much in ranked now however, but it's still fairly easy to hop in a player lobby.
Also, I cannot imagine actually being upset over them removing the virtually useless lobby system. They added a new patch we never got in America (officially), as well as included all the DLC that was sold back then as opposed to making us purchase everything again. I would say it's a good port versus Nocturne HD's "Remaster" (as a die-hard Nocturne fan, even I can say what they're charging for is BS for a singleplayer game). Probably not well optimized, as I've seen by people's complaints, but I would not call it a failure.
Also you were finding matches? Because I swear I kept running into same 2 guys every time I'd play ranked, and would spend so much time in other game modes while having online match search enabled. Maybe its because I set my connection quality to second highest, but gee there's no way I'm fighting someone in slow mo.
It was only prominent in the Playstation version, so for some reason ASW decided to keep it that way with the re-release. Tbh, when I played on PS3, I mainly stuck to Player Lobbies as the Virtual Lobby system was were I faced my laggiest matches. I can see why some people would miss it, what with earning all the colors + extra characters to walk around as. That's it though, just cosmetics.
I must have extreme luck then, my matches went smoothly. I don't know what connection I had my quality set to however, but I didn't run into connection issues save for me accidentally alt-tabbing (thank god for that fix. If they can add an option in the settings, what's stopping them from adding some other systems? Don't know what would be needed however).
As per usual, the start of the match would lag in the intro but after that, I usually had little to no issues. Since the first days died down, I don't imagine you will find much in Ranked.
Player lobbies are still there, I'm able to actually connect to those now but I will admit on launch that was a huge issue.
