FP1 vs FP2

Frostpunk 1:
- Excellent soundtracks
- Disaster after disaster strikes!
- Overcoming said disasters is euphoric. It warms your heart.
- City building is easy! Place houses near generator and you win the game
- DLC's expand on lore and story. Very nice!
- You get to send children to the coal mines! I love it!

Frostpunk 2:
- Missing orchestra soundtracks
- Citizens bicker about problems like in real life
- Factions are basically your angry neighbors who can't get along
- City building is hard! Gotta think about heating, industrial areas, goods, food, squalor. So many things to do!
- You can't send children to the coal mines! They go to school! Oh, the disappointment.
- You feel distant from your people now that the city is too big.

People view the game with mixed views. Supporters argue that FP2 is more ambitious and thus needs to be entirely revamped from the original. Opposition argue that FP2 is a corporate milk machine to squeeze out profits from new players and give them a lower than average game branded as a luxury sequel to FP1. The Moderates ignore all of that and wait for the game to come out then give their opinions.

I am angered that the devs didn't make a true sequel to FP1! I am disappointed for the devs who spent years developing FP2 not deliver by overpromising too much! I don't wanna play this game, it's a rip-off of the original! Why did I pre-order this game after watching that trailer?!

Exactly. What Frostpunk 1 has achieved cannot be replicated in Frostpunk 2. The world is bigger, time has moved on, and the captain spent 30 years managing the city you made in the New Home Scenario back in FP1. He is dead and the steward you play is disconnected from the citizenry, factions bicker over how to rule the city, and you are responsible for building, making laws, and quelling unrest.

My advice. Get out of the forums. Wait for the 20th to come. Boot up Frostpunk 2. Give the game a try. Play a few hours, then decide for yourself if the game is that inferior to Frostpunk 1. If not, keep playing. Learn the mechanics, struggle with failed playthroughs, maybe even give the game a break then come back.

By then, hundreds. Thousands. WIll play the game. New and old players will play Frostpunk. And none will be here reading my discussion but sending the children to the coal mines.
