You need to frostbreak to those tiles first. Also best use carfeul frostbreak (in the building menue), or your colonist will die. Finally, there are some tiles, which are already frost broken, on the hill near the edge of the map. You can use those as a place for your residential districts and your watch towers, which are needed to stop the sabotage.

I have frostbroken half of map, still can't place a single fume filtration!

aaaaaaaannndd... I lost the game, because it did not let me put down a single filtration! To say I'm extremely frustrated would be an understatement

The amount of people failing basic game mechanics because they refuse to take the time to actually read either the map's tooltips or the tutorial page, is both sad and hilarious.

Please tell me what I am missing!
Maybe, that you have to place the first tile of a filtration plant on a "fume resource" tile?

I was having this same problem. What I realized is that I was trying to place the fume filtration district on a "Geothermal Spring" which is the little mushroom cloud icon. The district only works on "Toxic Gas Springs" which is the skull icon.

Kind of an obvious solution but I died twice before I finally figured it out....

I figured out my problem, you do indeed need to place the first tile on a specific spot and not to be confused with the steam spot. Since toxic area and steam appear at the same time it was a little confusing.

[TAG]Alblaka... just go away will you.

whats actually "hillarious and sad" is someone coming to spread negativity in the chat instead of actually helping out.

Just take a trainer and play the game at your own pace with everything unlimited. It's really too hard otherwise.

Hi. Can you post screenshot where you were able to place the fume district? I'm having the same problem

Just look for the skull icons. That's where the poison gas needs to be capped off. NOT the icons that look like geysers.

all you had to say is 'place on skull icons' and you'd have been praised by everyone here, smh.
