The prologue had a potential
I am yet to finish chapter 1, so this post will have spoilers from up until that point, but I ask for none of them from later in the game (no matter how little story there is). I played the entirety of the prologue with my cousin. We took a lot of time simply theorizing. It felt really bad to play as the character that killed the person that you played as in the first game. We were suprised to see in the prologue are just unrelated people to New London. For some reason from the event in which we find scouts of New London we felt like the city has embraced either New Order or New Faith. We imagined that later in the story we will find New London. The game will turn into a political warfare between two major cities. Tyranny against what you have build - maybe also tyranny. It sounded better in my head, but I feel like it still sounds better from the lack of story this game apparently has.

Nothing in the game tells about you (the Steward) killing the old Captain. The old captain most likely died of old age.

The prologue is....a prologue and serves as a short tutorial to the games core mechanics.

Btw...since youre already complaining about stuff without knowing the entire game. The wanderers from the prologue make another appearance in the story.

I´d also expect a future DLC diving deeper into the wanderers storyline

It's just the impression I got from the intro.

I have already found the wandarers and it doesn't seem like they are going to be very in the story...unless we are going to have a zombie apocalypse.

Really the cinematic that shows the captain drugged up, wheeled out into the frostlands and dumped to freeze to death doesn't imply assassination? lol ok.

The only parts of that which are in the cinematic are "captain", "wheel[chair]", and "freeze".
at no point is the captain wheeled out into the frostlands - the cinematic just suddenly cuts to the captain coated in ice. Which implies more "death in general" rather than "assassination"
It also doesn't make much sense for the Steward to do in-setting?
The Captain has already declared them his successor - no 'sieze control' motivation
The Captain is already old and frail - any benefits from the 'take over sooner' motivation would not outweigh the risk from the singular Faction within New London being fiercely loyal to The Captain and his legacy

Judging how in Frostpunk 1 for instance, we got the Winterhome DLC after finding the ruins in the main campaign, we will get a wanderer DLC too. This game feels like it's a real world and it's cool just seeing how interconnected everything is. Like in the Last Autumn DLC you find (and canonically steal) the parts that were meant for the Winterhome reactor, which leads to the whole Winterhome DLC etc.

I didn't finish Frostpunk 2 yet, but my gut feeling says those wanderers from the prologue are gonna be the survivors and their descendents from the Winterhome exodus and we'll see their journey from the end of Winterhome to the start of Frostpunk 2 in a DLC.
