Frostbreaking what is the point? (Gameplay-wise)
What does this actually add to the game? I get the thematic reason for it, but it just adds an arbitrary step that makes placing districts a pain for no reason.

-I have to clear 8 tiles every time for no reason. Most of the time I just need 6 for a district or 3 for an expansion.
-There is only 1 frostbreaking crew per colony for no reason, and I can't queue them either, so I have to micromanage clearing to a resource.
-Can the builders not just call the frost breakers when I tell them to build the district?

It's a cool idea, but just a straight negative to the gameplay. :winter2019sadsnowman:

There is not only 1 frostbreaking crew per colony. It costs heatstamps and workforce. If you have both you can frostbreak rapidly

Also, you can frostbreak only 3 tiles, even only 1 if you want. Just reach the end of your trail and click the checkmark. It only lets you do this if you don't have other tiles to clear because frostbreaking 1 costs the same as frostbreaking 8

Its kinda lore based because the Snow and Ice outside of the City is such massive that they need to "prepare" the ground so you can Build stuff.

Its just like in Real life where you need to prepare a ground foundation of Beton to Build something on it - in FP2 its just the Ice

So its here to add some realistic sort of Building because you just cant Build on in unstable territory right? So you need to prepare those for which makes sense

I imagine the ground is frozen with ice and snow. If you build over it and the heaters start to melt it, the ground shifts and makes the building sink in.

Idk, the game is already insanely easy, maybe it's suppose to add a bit of depth and complexity. Idk, didn't even fount it slightly annoying.

Man, if only I had said that I get the thematic reason. :winter2019joyfultearssnowman:

It's just a weird step to add onto the building process given the scope of the sim. They manage roads, heat pipes, etc themselves, but I need to tell them to place a foundation before building?

Kinda but its also a decision it seems only the Steward is able to make

Its basically the new roads. In FP1 you had to build roads to reach stuff, since that is now automated and only for astetics they needed a new system so you cant build everywhere from the start.

ok don't know why people keep syaing lore when you're asking for gameplay.

From what I see it's like this. If you didn't frost break this area before hand when you needed the resources you have to wait a few more weeks to get them which could be even more of an issue but if you already payed to break this area earlier you had to of payed the heatstamps then that you could of used for something else. so it seems like tradeoffs to me.

It definitely takes strategy to frostbreak well. I doubt any of us have mastered it in less than 2 days.

So you're complaining about frostbreaking just because you don't understand how it works. I permanently have 5 crews frostbreaking at all times. It's actually TOO easy. I would prefer if the ground froze over again if you don't build anything on cleared land within a certain time period.

Ive only played on captain so far, heatstamps are really really valueable and frostbreaking costs alot, at least early on.

Planning, resource management,

What 'planning and resources'? Im permanently swimming in so many frostbux that I have multiple crews just constantly frostbreaking. I've cleared my entire map in the first 5 years just because I could.
