A Snow Piercer Train, and reason to lay down tracks would be nice, with story or campaign events.
Is New London the only city? Only survivors? Finding other major surviving groups and having interesting conflicts there would be interesting.
I don't think we need 3 or 4 different "story modes" - the existing one is already good enough introduction to the game. What I'd like to see is:
- new Zeitgeists
- new events
- new factions
- new laws
- new abilities and political tools
Of course, before it even comes to that, we'd need more fixes and changes aimed to improve performance and better adjust the existing Utopia mode for endless play.
Also hoping for a Return to London expedition.
I feel that building a story dlc where everything new is contained only to that particular story is a big mistake since I might play each new story dlc a few times each but if everything new is focused to enrich utopia/endless mode the hours you can get out of the new stuff is multiplied x Alot.
I mean yes...give us additional story scenarios if you have some for us, but ALSO make sure every single DLC Addition drops something to improve or add or otherwise enhance Utopia Mode. Especially for those who want TRUE endless mode.
Stellaris has no issues releasing content packs that add to the game as a whole, as just one example of many. So I see no excuse why any of the incoming DLC should be exclusive to one mode or the other. Add things to both. Period.
This would be ideal yes.
Nothing too fancy of course, Frostpunk 2 ain't never gonna be an RTS. But something basic, like a "Military District" with 2-3 new buildings, and it outputs "Soldiers" what basically function as a better alternative to the current Guards. And conflict could be as simple as number/strength comparison. And of course all this would involve a bunch of new events and maybe a new law or two. It also would fit perfectly with some existing systems; POW as a new form of prisoners, battles generating injured and dead (like scouting in dangerous regions), etc.
There could be a story mission that has a set map and set "NPC nations" with set events. Meanwhile in Utopia this feature could just be adjusted and using a set of semi-random hostiles.
The Crève Neige, the French train name that translates to 'Snow Piercer', exists probably as a nod to Snowpiercer. Which is a French comic. So who knows...
But a sequel of "The Fall of Winterhome" where you travel with the DREADNOUGHT "RESOLUTE" in search for a new location to setup would be awesome. Every once and a while you have to stop, park, transform into a MOBILE GENERATOR like in the concept art just to gather more supplies. This means building housing so that people can stretch their legs, build infrastructure to support gathering operations and maybe make upgrade along the way. Once you've done what you can, you break everything down and pack it all up in the DREADNOUGHT and then travel to the next area.
All this to find a location that is properly sheltered from the weather and has plenty of resources around to set the DREADNOUGHT up to build a good CITY.
The way traveling works is like Metro: Exodus. It's not really traveling, its more like get cut scene of traveling but in reality you're just being placed on a new mini-map with more points of interest. Maybe to make the game more interesting the player have to complete some quests like clearing the way to the next area or fix something that broke. Upgrades to allow the DREADNOUGHT to pierce through some obstacle or something like that.
Then you eventually find the promised land, the DREADNOUGHT is placed in the ideal location, just like the concept art, so that it can become a MOBILE GENERATOR but fixed in placed to build a NEW WINTERHOME.
I'm anxious to know more about this too.
And a way to find more cores, infinately, but just very slowly... so when you really get your city big as heck, you can get enough cores to sustain it too. I mean, it could already be implemented, but maybe it could just be a part of a dlc, like settlements were in FP1. So when you get in story to such a place, we get the ability to do it in Utopia too. Like actually making them. Would have to be something further in the Idea tree, and perhaps something you can only unlock like after a long time of ingame time has gone, since you really don't need more of the cores in the first 1k weeks, but if you plan to go 4k, yea, you'll start needing some.
And honestly, whatever cool thing they might come up with. Just keep it coming.
