WHAT DO I NEED GEOTHERMAL SPRINGS FOR ?
I don't really understand why I need geothermal springs, I mean in a colony with resources or an agricultural one, yes, but in the main city? I did not notice that it was used to produce heat by the generator.

Only the Adaptive Pump can make use of Steam for heat. If you go for Oil Pump then its useless. All colonies have Adaptive Generators that cannot overclock.

Still, the zone around Geothermal gives Heat bonus so its not entirely useless.

Thanks

I think there should be a new tech to use steam as an energy to make some coal or oil or whatever.

I mean, the tech doesn't exist, but it feels weird having steam resources and that a choice makes it unusable. It's usable energy, after all.

Its just the price to pay for the choice. How would you make coal or oil from steam? I wish I could just build something over the geysir node if I go Progress (like a housing district or an industrial one) but oh well.

Well, steam is a pretty straightforward resource to use as energy, technically. You could use it as energy to directly fuel an industry generating some other benefit. It could be produced goods or reduced tension or increased trust or whatever, but sitting literally on hot water and not using it seems weird (even if it's not hot water, having hot steam necessarily means you can turn even ice into steam from it). Like, some sort of thermal bath consuming steam for increased trust and reduced disease, maybe?

Certainly it could be used like that but its just the price to pay for the much more efficient oil you get to use and still keep coal useful by turning it into this much more useful oil. Otherwise the choice wouldn't really matter, its just the price to pay. Atleast the zone still warms the ground above it for the districts that are placed there. I think oil could be made even more efficient for progress tho, like 8x instead of 7x (I just like even numbers lol).

Love the bath idea though, if you could make that as an option for the fuel extraction. A Sauna Hub that must be placed on the steam node. Generates trust, lowers disease and maybe even discontent. Pretty cool idea.

I'd love to see a change to the oil route. Where the steam nodes can be used for food and the coal can be used to make materials or goods. Or something to that effect. So those nodes don't get rendered useless if you pick the oil route. They should be new buildings so they take up one of the slots and require more workers.

Coal nodes are not useless but a source for an infinite amount of oil (and thereby materials and goods): Build a coal mine, build a few coal liquefactors, build a few stimulant factories, and then be happy about every coal liquefactors producing 600 oil from 60 coal. Broken as ♥♥♥♥.

I need an actual dunce cap for moments like this. I forgot about the liquifier. I still like the idea of being able to use steam for food.

Yeah, let's build efficient but not endless generator on oil, while we have endless supply of steam and geothermal energy.
