Generator turns itself off

Can't find anything on this, here or via google, not sure if its a bug.

I have no idea why or when, but the generator in New London keeps turning itself off.

This keeps lumping me with a moral hit across the board. No matter how often I turn it back on, it eventually turns itself off again.

I have a surplus of fuel and I don't have mods for this game.

Anyone have any idea why this keeps happening? Or if it happens to others too? Is it supposed to do this?

Afraid not. I started a new game in the hopes that it resolves itself. Also upped the game difficulty so started prologue again. Just hoping I could get some info or a solution before I reach that point again.

Was it an upgraded generator that can only use oil (the Progress zeitgeist one)? If so, even if you have other fuel types (like coal) in abundance, the generator will turn itself off anytime you lack oil.

No, hadn't got to upgrading it yet. Although I have now reached the point I was during my first play through and it seems to be running fine. Fingers crossed.

Did you activate overdrive mode and forgot about it maybe? (wild guess!)

That wouldn't deactivate the generator. Only the overdrive itself deactivates after reaching 100%.
