Haha imagine Civilisation where You have to deal with some voting each week, people would tank this game in reviews. This is the point: improving good formula not flipping the table. Ahh what do we know lol

The best part is that if 11bit would give us frostpunk closer to first game they could milk that cow for years with dlc like civilisation, new scenarios, maybe even fractions with different buildings and tech tree. Wow that would be amazing.
As a fellow completionist, I like to see this getting talked about. Indeed, the survival puzzle, once solved, turned challenges into chores. You can commit 500 hours on getting every achievement like we did, but there is honestly little reason to do so.
Frostpunk works best as an "experience" kind of game. Because as soon as you get under the hood and are able to play optimally, all the tough choices and morals of the game suddenly lose context. Why would I use human fertilizer if food is abundant?
On the other hand, Frostpunk is a strategy game even more than it is a survival game. And my favorite strategy games are those with elaborate mechanics and strong replayability. Civilization, Company of Heroes, Crusader Kings - all those games can be played in very different ways, so when I buy the game from this IP I know I'm in for hundreds of hours of fun. This makes Frostpunk an odd animal. If it's a "play once" experience kind of game then it's fine, such games got right to exist, but I'll find it difficult to justify getting it at the asking price.
What people really mean when talking about "Frostpunk 1.5" is an evolutionary approach to development. Building up on what's already there, solving issues whenever possible. Frostpunk 2, however, took the revolutionary approach - the way of change, change so drastic that led to a substantial part of the community no longer recognizing it as Frostpunk. And that's problematic.
Which leads to the question - is Frostpunk 2 even necessary? If there's no way to meaningfully improve on the original and 11bit is not capable of doing it (which I'm willing to believe) and making the same game again is not the way forward either...
Maybe Frostpunk should have remained a one-off story that does not really warrant a continuation? It would allow 11bit much more creative freedom and led to far less controvercy than what we have right now.
I never thought I'd see the day people would gripe "how DARE they not sell me the same game twice!!!"
I guess Call of Duty has been conditioning gamers to eat the same slop for every meal.

Oh, I've given my opinion, if you recall. Unlike our buddy kylix here, I don't really feel the need to keep screaming the same thing over and over again. And again. And again. And again.
I mean, sure, there are recurring themes, but I like to mix it up a little, you know? My audience demands it.
I've also pointed out how each and every one of your overly wordy, pompous arguments was actually saying absolutely nothing and you ignored it because you knew I was right. You talk like one of those alt-right rabbithole YouTubers, all emotional appeals and pathos with nothing of substance. I have a few guesses on why that is.
You both want the exact same game you already have, and instead of just accepting that a game you were interested in might not be to your tastes, or god forbid giving something new a chance, especially after months of tweaking in accordance with community feedback, you haunt its forums and ensure no one else can possibly ever discuss the game in any context other than your petulant whining. It's pathetic, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise just to pander to some lackwitted sense of "civility." If you don't like the game, cool, don't buy it. But move on. Pack up your "I'm just a concerned Gamer representing other concerned Gamers" routine and hit the road, or else volunteer yourself to be roundly mocked every time you open your mewling mouth to repeat the same tired whining again and again. The people who actually want to be here are tired of you.
That goes for you too, kylix, and honestly it applies even more. We get it, my guy, you're the kind of person who plays the same game for hours and hours and hours and hours. We can tell. We can tell. We. Can. Tell. Move on. This is your chance to learn an important life lesson most of us get in childhood (which, let's be honest, I've long since begun to suspect you're still in): not everything is about you, for you, or in accordance with your wishes. I get it, Mommy has never told you "no" before, but let 11Bit stand in for Mommy when they refuse to completely trash Frostpunk 2 just to give you more Frostpunk 1. Move on and go focus on stuff you like; you will be happier for it.
Perhaps I just didn't feel like engaging with your comments, given your background of inability to take part in a discussion that features even a remote semblance of decorum and does not devolve into your unsolicited estimates of the other party's intelligence? If memory serves, you've been already banned from here earlier this year, have you not?
This is a reductive, oversimplified way of putting it. Gamedev seen decades of sequels that built up on the original, staying true to its core genre, setting, theme, mechanics etc.
We are not necessarily opposed to the idea of the game being "something new", we're opposed to such a game randomly embracing the Frostpunk name for no other apparent reason than exposure.
While 11bit's latest political sim could be given a chance, we feel this should not be happening at the expense of loyal fans of the established IP.
When you take a moment to compare the criticisms voiced at this forums following the beta with the list of things that amount to "months of tweaking" - you will realize basically no concerns were/will be addressed. Which is as expected - the main issues of FP2 are in regards to things like genre, core mechanics and game design. And you only address those by a lengthy delay in order to tear the game apart and put it together again; or by cancelling it entirely.
When talking about community feedback (Cities Unbound Ep. 5, for example), 11bit cherrypicks those bits it feels like addressing, while pretending to be blissfully unaware of the elephant in the room. We don't know who are those people who "have been heard" - but they definitely weren't us or players like us. Which naturally lends justice to our continued presence here.
It's funny you should say that. Right now it's easy to single out kylix and myself, but a few months ago it's you who would be in a minority and would be called out for even daring to air something other than discontent.
That said, your argument goes both ways. Every time kylix makes a thread to discuss literally anything - it is inevitably hijacked by people who can't help but feel their purchasing decision being challenged, and have an unbearable urge to whiteknight for the game, no matter what. Upon closer inspection, such people's takes often boil down to unfounded optimism - an image of the game that exists in their mind only.
Yeah, the irony. We don't get to speak for everyone, but you somehow get a pass. Figures.
After reaching this part of your comment, I'm wondering why did I bother engaging at all as opposed to straight up reporting. But, since I'm already here, I can only point out that part of the identity of Frostpunk is being a strategy game with strong potential for replayability, the fact it is sometimes achieved through tedious achievement grind notwithstanding.
I'm not saying a brief visual novel has no right to exist or should not be paid for - what I'm saying is I'd find it hard to justify getting it at FP2's asking price.

You can call my summary of your points reductive if you want, but they're accurate. You mischaracterize the game constantly (it's a visual novel, now?) and then expect your points to be taken seriously and respected? You're not entitled to my respect, chudboi, and you sure haven't earned it.

You argued that creating different gameplay for Frostpunk 2 is normal, so by that logic, you should be happy to push it further into a first-person shooter, right?
