Frostpunk 2

Frostpunk 2

Statistiche:
So... is there actually other games like Frostpunk 1? (and not this)
Since every second shill is claiming that devs never promised frostpunk 2 be like frostpunk 1, "it's a narrative sequel, not a gameplay one" and its your own damn fault that game is not up to your expectatios, let me be an ol'timey Frostpunk 1 luddite and ask - is there other Frostpunk1-like games? Gameplay-wise. I just want a tiny city builder around the dwindling life source and every day struggle to survive for my small community.

Good question there are a lot of games but not with such addictive gameplay I think:
endzone
new cycle
surviving aftermath
and lots of others
Problem is many of them are micro management games with lots of resource types, overcomplicated, You think You are doing something but wasting time for micromanagement like pipes that destroys fun. This is why frostpunk 1 was so good, simple resource heat management, laws and tech tree twist and so on, perfect formula. There is a reason why some ppl played houndred of hourse the same scenarios...

I hope other devs will make spiritual successor to f1
Yes there is one, Ixion: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1113120/IXION/
Actually inspired by Frostpunk, you can make it as easy or brutal as you want, but sadly, no endless mode yet.
Apart from fp2s beta quality, as someone who doesn't consider fp1 noteable as a city builder - I can't tell the difference, and I do consider fp2 a spiritual successor. It doesn't have laying down of individual buildings for people who consider that kind of.... Largely non-strategic Nitty gritty important.

It's not wrong to enjoy that kind of gameplay. It's just wrong to define a genre by it. Unless it makes a lot of money.

Dude, you are literally adding nothing to the conversation. You made no recommendation. It was made explicit in the title: "(not this)".

Stop trying to sell us the game.

This answer is completely not on OP topic, nobody cares
As others have said - Ixion.
Very good game.

Also look at Against the Storm if your looking for a city builder with survival elements.
I actually like this question. You aren't screaming at 11bit studios for doing what they want to do. You are trying to find a solution you're trying to find a solution that already exists. I like that approach. Take my points.
Ps: I can't give any recommendations, because I haven't made a serious approach to the city builder genre except both frostpunks.

Same. With some luck, with the refunded money from Frostpunk 2's preorder, I will be able to enjoy a new game recommended through this post! So far, Ixion seems to be the clear winner.

I've previously heard good things about Surviving Mars, in that it's somewhat similar to Frostpunk. Would you guys recommend it?

Another one that did not add anything to conversation

Indeed it is.
Fantasy feel and smaller scale building than frostpunk.

Most identical game you'd get to FP is going to be Ixion that i've seen so far.
Ixion is a good - but not AS good - alternative. Otherwise not really, FP1 is still p. unique with its blend of city building, strategy, survival and rogue-lite elements.

Trust me, I tried to find a proper "more of the same" for years, in vain. Ultimately you have to resort to games that are more different than similar but are just as much fun. My go to-es are Anno games, Tropico, Surviving Mars (Aftermath) or recently Against the Storm.

Surviving Mars is a great colony building game. I love it and recommend it. But it has nothing common with Frostpunk except that it's a game, you can build something, and you need to manage resources and workforce.

Ixion is the closest. But, it's a little more tedious. New Cycle needs QE rotation keymap implemented. Then I'll give it a solid go. Endzone got boring quickly.
