Cultivars and crossbreeding

Sooo I've had the quest to grow a cutting dunegrass FOREVER. I only just found a giant dunegrass a few in game days ago, and planted 2 next to 2 wild dunegrass. I've been trying not to look up how to do this... but I got so frustrated looking for a giant dunegrass, and now they don't seem to be giving me cutting dunegrass seeds even though they are next to each other?
What am I missing here? Do they need to be in the planter or something?
(I guess the same with the thorntail quest, and I can only find two glowsticks for the life of me so other colors are not appearing..)

I've max upgraded my cloak, I've restored some lighthouses.. like I've put a lot of time into the game, somehow this is still evading me.

I always have the first plant seed in my inventory, then go up to the second plant. The seed you are looking for should be in your second plants drop down to make a new seed. I never relied on planting next to each other. They lack explanation on this way. Found it out myself

I guess that requires life shaping... I have like 4 talents I still haven't gotten (oi) and that is one of them. Well... I guess I was hoping for an earlier solution, but if no one else has any input, at least i have a way forward!
Now to get 6 more arcane memories..

I don't know how you couldn't get it as I got the seed from a wild dunegrass. I don't know for sure since I've never used one, but if you are using a planter maybe that's the issue. I just plant them in the soil near the tree you start at. If none of these are the case it could maybe be bad rng if that's a possible issue or a glitch.

Yeah, probably a glitch. Sadly, in my experience, the best fix for a glitch is start again. Doesn't sound like that's a very practical solution for you though.

Much easier just to go for lifeshaping at this point! I might start over sometime.. but right now I can't imagine abandoning my ever expanding oasis <3 uwu

I would probably start over because it's a bad habit I got from playing Skyrim. But yeah, good idea to go for lifeshaping.

Lol I started over several times already on this in just the first couple days of playing. First time because I had a one tree that I didnt realize it was going to be so huge, in my way. So I started over, then it was when I got Gleb's tool, and I realized it would be so much easier to do things the way I wanted once I had that, so I started over again, this time only planting the minimum needed stuff till I got it. Then started again just because lol.

I've probably started over more than ten times. That's how much of a habit it is for me.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble getting a crossbreed.. It is only a chance of getting the crossbred seed, so I think you are just getting unlucky so far.

How long have you had these 4 planted like this? How many seeds have they produced without getting a Cutting Dunegrass?

It is possible that there's a bug here that we aren't aware of!

I'm not sure... how long it had been at that point. Maybe 3-4 in game days? I uh.. play probably a couple or few hours a day ^^;; so.. I have cutting seeds now. Whether they came from those plants, or if it happened after I got lifeshaping, I can't remember. Sorry :<

I'm very happy to hear that you got the seed you were looking for though. Maybe it takes a bit too long sometimes - this is something we can look into.

Ya, the Devs of this game are pretty good about answering here, I love it, I wish more did.

Have you planted the Dunegrass in it's favorite environment? They thrive in the Meadow, just like Berries in the Marsh, and Moon Glory in the Grove. ^-^ It might help to try this if you haven't.
