How do I acquire star metal?

I found some after killing red orbs, but I haven't found any since. I did find a meteor embedded in the ground, but I have no idea how.

They fall from the sky in the mountains region. You can then get the star metal from them.

Once you have the ability to fly through the air, you will be able to notice a unique looking rock on the ground. Go up to it and interact to get one star metal. You can also destroy those wraith things on the ground in the mountains and occasionally they will drop a star metal. I got mine about 50% from each of those sources.

Ya, don't hit, use the interaction key (off hand I forget which key that is).

Strange, I tried that once at it just went dark and didn't give me anything. Tried again and it works. Thanks for the help.
