WASD impossible for me

GPU usage goes up to 90%+ even with NVIDIA settings set to VSYNC enabled and FPS cap at 120. Even at a 60 FPS cap, GPU usage goes from 40-80% moving around the first room.

Hitting ESC only offers to "resume" "save" or "save and quit" which shuts down the game completely.
