Shooters and MOBAs I should add. Shooters specifically because fine motor skills can be honed way more precisely on a KBM combo than on a controller. Example: You can flick your wrist to quickly snap onto a target on a KBM but not on a controller.
And well it depends on the game and player playstyle. If the game offers a lock-on feature then the need for manual tracking is greatly reduced save for some highly specific situations.
I'm well acquainted with both input methods so the question for me isn't which one is better but rather which one I personally prefer. Well my preference happens to be controller but if the need arises to switch to KBM, I'll do just that.
There is no "wrong answer" I should add. People should be free to proceed how they see fit, as always. Mouse + keyboard, controller or a bunch of potatoes wired to a circuit board even.
So you need magnetism, lock on, aim assist, bullet snaping, contextual actions and so on. These are created to mitigate the ineficiencies of the sticks.
Using m/kb you dont have any use for lock on. You can play freely. Because when you enter a combat scenario, you can instantly just look at an enemy and hit him with precision. If you have enemies behind you, a flick of the mouse has you turned and the enemy in your sights. Aiming the axe at enemies or puzzles - again, piece of cake.
So the speed, accuracy and precision of the mouse negates the assists that are mandatory on consoles.
Another point would be. this game being on PC, allows for an entirely different experience than it was possible on consoles until now, with mouse and keyboard. Maybe people who already played it on consoles can give it a shot, with a new and refreshed gameplay allowed by m\kb that wasnt possible until now, instead of retreading the same experience that was on ps4
If a mouse and keyboard game has good controls, and on top of that immersive audio, that can be just as immersive to me as using a controller and getting immersed based on everything you'd expect to see from a technical sense, on top of haptic vibrations.
However, especially for melee-centric games, I typically find that vibrations are necessary to feel the full weight of my attacks, which is why I always choose a controller for like the arkham games, or similar ones like shadow of mordor and sleeping dogs for example.
Nevertheless, God of War feels like a controller game for me. It'll be nice to see how they implement the Dualsense features; Deathloop was the first FPS game I played with a controller in years because of how much I enjoyed the dualsense implementation, though granted it didn't require much precision to play.
Press X to doubt on both controllers. HZD and Days Gone work perfectly with an XBOX xontroller.
They most certainly do, I've literally just read a review and the guy said how weird it was to see the Sony logo come up and then Xbox button prompts......
Also, pretty much every game on Steam has Xbox controller support built in......
If it's your first pad and if you plan on using it with other games on Steam then I would recommend getting an Xbox One controller. They're supported by pretty much every game on Steam right out of the box and also other platforms as well (Ubisoft/origin etc)
Playstation controllers do work on Steam but can be a little fiddly and not everything supports them correctly. Outside of Steam you will likely need to run software to make the pad work at all.
Mouse and Keyboard is the way to go.
You are on a PC not a console.
why do you think this game will soon be released on PC? because of k+m!
