"You aren't actually meant to root for horrible people like Joel" You say that why? Because he killed a random npc to save a girl who was like a daughter to him? We don't see the 20 years. It's naive to say you'll be a better person in times where even the current government is killing people with little hesitation and keep them hostage. And those 20 years is exactly why what happen to him made zero sense. Joel isn't stupid yet every character from the first game somehow dropped their IQ.
The other perspectives was literally the biggest problem with the game. Joel was a big fan favorite and playing as Abs the protein roid junky was just an insult to the players. If they didn't jump the gun at the start and not false advertise joel was going to be in the game longer people wouldn't have been as pissed. And the ending was garbage. "It's okay for abby to get revenge but not ellie" That's gibberish writing.
Dude death threats happen in all of media. It's such a minor few of people that do it that it doesn't even come close to 1% of people that played the game. Not excusing it of course. But really that happens with everything it's not even news.
Sony will never beat the scalper market, Microsoft has no exclusives and Nintendo games run better on any PC.

For me personally is like now not worth to get PS5 anymore, Now is just waiting, I;m sure coming much more PS games to PC after HZD, GoW, Uncharted 4.
The irony of calling them a 'Random NPC' but claiming that *I* haven't played the game?
That's part of that perspective thing and seeing a situation from two sides of the coin.

I often hear the 'Joel was dumb' argument but I don't get it. They're in some ski lodge type thing with hundreds of infected pouring through the walls. They don't exactly have time to sit down and debate what to do next and there's atleast safe haven being presented to them within a few minutes riding distance. How would you have written that scene?
Joel totally talks about the stuff he did during the 20 years also, like laying the same trap that was sprung on them in Pittsburgh and killing innocents. (One such ambush and slaughter from his past was originally going to be Abby's connection and motivation in an early draft)
I never felt misled or 'pissed'. I thought it was known and common knowledge that we'd be playing as Ellie for the bulk of the game, not Joel. This naturally led to speculation about what may happen as a result. (Playing Abs on the other hand was totally a pleasant surprise!)
Though it's hard to chat about this stuff and the nuance involved when honestly I feel as though I'm talking to someone who doesn't have an open mind and just wants to argue ('protein roid junky'..? Really?)
It's not ok for anyone to keep the cycle of killing going indefinitely because where do you draw the line? Both have a case of being the wronged party, hence why the dual narrative was so effective to some of us since it did its job perfectly of just making you think from one side until you actually got the full picture and had context.
Also you seem to be glossing over a lot of the rampaging and torture that Ellie did in regards to 'who gets to have revenge'.. if there's some cosmic scale of 'justice' somewhere then it's a godamn mess and all over the place from *both* sides, though skewed a little in Abby's favour honestly..
why play a nintendo game on pc
I got a cheap secondhand Series S months back, then I realized that either everything or atleast 99% of anything I was interested in was on PC gamepass anyway
I ended up chucking it on an early model 'dumb' TV in a spare room here and am using it to run streaming services off of.. so it's a nice overly expensive chromecast/paperweight at the moment
I mean I got a ps5 for their early exclusives but yeah when I can't get it on PC I am forced to play it at 4k 60 on my 65 inch oled. It's not bad but not as great as playing on PC.
Yes a random npc. You played the game good for you. That's exactly what feels forced. It could have been done much better. And Abby revenge was never about saving the "human race" but for her dad who was so quick to put another girl that was his daughters age down. So if it was your daughter or "daughter" you would be okay with it? Ellie wasn't even consulted before hand about it. A way to avoid the situation would have been to let ellie decide and let her calm joel down as goodbye. But they messed up. And also there was no guarantee it would have worked. There's a cure then what? Go around poking clickers? That's not how it works. Never mind the dozens of cannibals, religious cults, and gangs there are.
You don't buy it because you chose not to. Joel for 20 years survived with very few people he trusted. He was entirely not trusting of others and knowing that he's done some ♥♥♥♥ in the past his brother just drops his name while allowing himself to be cornered? Come on dude you've got to be kidding me. How would I have written it? I would have had the player playing as joel in that section. You save abby, and make your way back to tommys place. They had checkpoint set up they can do it. Then set up at tommys place where she finds out his name, but can't do anything about it yet. See? Writings not so hard is it?
Look up the trailers bro. I'm not arguing this one. They lied and false advertised that Joel was going to be in the game a lot longer.

She took her best friends babys dad, handicapped tommy and took the last gift that Joel her playing guitar by biting off her fingers. Why would that stop ellie? She's KILLED HUNDREDS of people by that point. Women, men, dogs, some of them might have had kids or been pregnant (You like to throw around perspective well there's some perspective) who did nothing to her. But abby is a no go? Please.
