only game convince me to buy console is bayonetta and xenoblade and maybe metroid
so it is more likely i buy switch than ps5
if i knew what i know now i would never bought my ps4
if i buy ps5 it will be likely in 2027 and mostly a ps5 pro and only less of one year before they release ps6 or even after they release ps6 when ps5 pro price will drop below 200$
Ehm.. this is exactly what they are trying to do. This is not a delusion and I dont see why it would be. Its actually a pretty decent strategy to maybe convince people that sony has quality exclusives. I have seen an article by the time Horizon got ported that the CEO wanted the PC community to switch to PS.
I mean.. why else would they suddenly port some of their popular exclusives, that also get a sequel in the near future, to PC? If you say "Well duh easy money" Well duh thats probalby their goal but if you have no range you are not really getting any money. Besides that if they were only interested in Money they would have taken the Epic Offer of what... 200 Mio? and released their games on EGS exclusively. But as you see they are being released on both platforms.
And to your question: Not really, I am just not interested and convinced yet. There are just way to many great games on PC and Playstation exclusives are rather story focused most of the time.
it depend what they think made more money, maybe they think kingdom heart suck too much to made money on steam, so they take epic money
but for gow and horizon seem their hypothesis is steam money is bigger than epic exclu
The way I see it it's just another market where they are starting to sell their games on and make even more profit. Not some master plan to make people buy a ps5. ( which are impossible to get anyway )
Ghost of Tsushima and Last of Us nxt plz
The argument makes no sense either. PS exclusives have been a thing for decades. Why would PC players start buying PS consoles now just because they try a handful of games?
Their strategy as said by Sony executives is simply to broaden their audience with PC users and make more money once PS sales have dried up. This won't even drive up PS sales enough to make a dent.
$200M is peanuts compared to what they would lose by not having their games on Steam.
I see your point but the argument absolutely does make sense. Sony, Nintendo and Epic Games basically live on exclusives. There are not a lot of good reasons to buy a console if there are no exclusives at all. And it is not unthinkable to imagine that a handful or even one single game is enough to make PC players or non-console players switch to a different platform.
Nintendo + Zelda BoTW would be my personal story. I firstly emulated the game and then got a switch and Zelda all together. After that I also got more Nintendo exclusives like Mario, Fire Emblem, Smash and I will most likely keep buying a few more games from Nintendo.
Its just that simple. With this one game that I played on PC first, i switched the platform.
Because I thought: "Damn they have really amazing games."
And if the timing is odd to you. Well I dont really know why now but I guess they saw that there are a lot of PC players not having a console and they changed their strategy. I actually think its quite reasonable tbh. Considering the fact that they just released a new console, it is just ridiculous to think that they port all of their exclusives to PC.
And besides that, 200M are definetely peanuts to a company such as sony but you have to consider the fact that these 200M are a lot of money just for X(dont know how many EPic wanted to buy) Sony games and the money is SAFE. There is no guarantee that the X Sony games will make that much money. And lets not forget the 30% cut from Steam.
What I'm looking forward to is the Steam Deck though... a portable for your steam library is genius and should pay big dividends for Gaben and his Valve boys.
All the games that are ported to PC are way pass their hype period aka money making days. Most go for like, 10 bucks on PS Store. If they manage to hook someone into buying a PS5 for the sequel? Great. If not, they still gain money from normal purchase.
I don't ever plan to buy a console. If I didn't buy the game 4 years after launch, I'll prob won't ever do it as long as it's only on console. The only way Sony can get me to spend is to port it to my platform of choice.
People like me are the main target for Sony on PC. PR for the sequel or hooking new fans is just a bonus.
People need to realize the main reason for the ports is to get more money after a game has pretty much gotten all the sales it can get on console, it's nothing more than that. Unless you're a PC gamer that's living under a rock, you already know what type of games PlayStation is making, and are ok with missing out on them, so this narrative of "it's to get PC gamers to become PlayStation gamers" is absolute B.S.
