Shotgun
I am playing on the steamdeck and grabbing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is a death sentence. If this weapon was the pinacle of the DOOM, here (and many others games) it is opposite useless garbage.

Devs, make the cone smaller and rise tge damadge and distance.

I had the opposite experience. I picked it it up and it immediately did what I wanted, reduced a rushing soldier to jelly. ADS makes the pellet spread tighter and still does good work if you're aiming at the head at medium-ish range.

I disagree, the shotgun kills most enemies in a single blast and that is without giving it any upgrades. The thing only gets more powerful as you progress.

In fact, I think the weapon is generally considered to be the most powerful weapon in the game (slot 8 excluded)

Yeah, shotgun's pretty powerful. The double-barrel upgrade lets it outright delete even those annoying Enforcers if they flank you up close.

Only real complaint is that for how good it is, we get sooooooooo little godamn ammo for it. Like damn, at best you get 20-30 shells per mapset for the damn thing... Us Dutch folk may have a reputation for being stingy, but this goes well beyond being stingy, sheesh!

Yeah, shotgun here is excellent. Not as fast as the one from FEAR, but plenty more powerful to back it up. It one-shots most normal enemies from longer distances than you would expect.

The only dissapointing weapons so far are SMGs and Nailgun UNTIL you get the spread shot upgrade. Both of those weapons fight for the same close range niche and SMG takes assault rifle ammo for some reason... I wish SMG had it's own ammo pool and I kinda wound't mind the Nailgun having shotgun upgrade since default, because dear heavens that thing tears timespace quantum holes in enemies with each shot.

What are you even ON about lmao

The shotgun is a weapon of mass destruction in this game lol.
I love the shotgun, but maybe a higher rate of fire would be nice, especially given it's a futuristic shotgun, 2.5 seconds between each shot is too long. It's not your grandpa shotgun XD
It might be my favorite shotty of all time

Take the Penetrator with shotgun module if you want a faster firing shotgun. It deals lower damage per shot but it's really useful if you're getting swarmed by multiple enemies at once.
Didn't see this, I will have a look for sure
I tried it, it's really nice indeed. But still, the shotgun is too defensive. With it you can only wait for ennemies to come, it's impossible to rush them because you kill one and then you have to wait for too long before the next shot.

I'm always rushing with the shotgun on higher difficulties. Time your dashes/slides well and you can use it as aggressively as you want.

All weapons can be used aggressively

Try using dash jump more if you don't already. You can get a shot in, dash back + jump to create a safe distance, slide towards the enemy, get a shot in and reset your slide cooldown, enabling you to easily reposition again.
The shotgun can also be used as a damn sniper with those slug rounds that pop heads even on Admiral difficulty.

Welp, after some time, there's one thing to concede, that the damn thing takes AAAAAAAAGES to reload, by which time you've already been flanked from both sides, shot in the face, and left bleeding on the floor.

Beyond that, still powerful though. And remarkably good for safely dealing with Siegers. I don't use it much for ranged combat outside that, though. Works best as a means of retaining your personal space (a recent upgrade might've added range ability, though).
