In fact, I think the weapon is generally considered to be the most powerful weapon in the game (slot 8 excluded)
Only real complaint is that for how good it is, we get sooooooooo little godamn ammo for it. Like damn, at best you get 20-30 shells per mapset for the damn thing... Us Dutch folk may have a reputation for being stingy, but this goes well beyond being stingy, sheesh!
The only dissapointing weapons so far are SMGs and Nailgun UNTIL you get the spread shot upgrade. Both of those weapons fight for the same close range niche and SMG takes assault rifle ammo for some reason... I wish SMG had it's own ammo pool and I kinda wound't mind the Nailgun having shotgun upgrade since default, because dear heavens that thing tears timespace quantum holes in enemies with each shot.
The shotgun is a weapon of mass destruction in this game lol.
All weapons can be used aggressively
Beyond that, still powerful though. And remarkably good for safely dealing with Siegers. I don't use it much for ranged combat outside that, though. Works best as a means of retaining your personal space (a recent upgrade might've added range ability, though).
